I don't really like South Park. I sometimes find it quite nauseating on almost every level and for so very many different reasons. I can't stand how basic and artistically drab it is, I can't stand how all the characters both sound the same and are the same, I can't stand how pointlessly offensive it is, I can't stand how bad it satirises things. My least favourite SP episode is of course, "A Million Little Fibers" followed by "Bloody Mary".
However, I don't hate everything about it and there are actually some things I love about it. Season 10's "Tsst" is not only easily the best South Park episode, it's one of the greatest TV episodes ever. None of what I just said at the start of this post applies to this episode. I bought Season 10 on DVD just so I could own this episode. My next favourite episode (well, double-episode), "Cartoon Wars", is not only incredibly spot-on in it's observations of Family Guy and King of the Hill, it manages to make me laugh quite hard, even when I respect Family Guy so much for featuring the freshest humour I've seen on TV since maybe Blackadder. I respect Matt and Trey greatly for sharing an admiration for The Simpsons. Some other things I like about it: While it's maybe not as daring as Drawn Together, which all round is a brilliant show, South Park is still daring, even if some things are done in incredibly poor taste - and I mean that in the most unfriendly way possible; and last but not least, South Park is gay-friendly, which I could not like or respect more about it. Yeah, that "Family Guy sucks" excuse is getting incredibly old. You know, most people don't like it just because it's popular. Family Guy has such an amazingly unique sense of humour that it's just impossible to dismiss or ignore. Season 6 is, well, an utter abomination and I'm guessing Season 7 is, but if you're going to put down the first 3 seasons (2 and 3, at least) then at least be prepared to back up your opinions or I'm not going to listen.

It really does make you wonder what would happen if we had no internet. The "ghost" part was soooooo sick. Imagine generating that much ***** in 2 weeks. I would feel bad for the girl that would get unleashed to that shit

the level of wit and humor that are in this show are out of this world and certainly a show that can still keep me interested and wait for the next wacky adventure. I love the different angle of insight they have into our culture and the way they show how the average man acts. There are so many moments in South Park that are classic and something I can always have those "remember when..." moments with my friends. Simpsons use to have that same magic...
Some favorite moments that pop into my head are Mr. Jefferson, World of Warcraft, Chinpokemon, and naggers. I can't believe you guys think the series has slowed down, if anything I think the series has been rerevved. The middle seasons seemed kind of slow to me but seasons 10 and 11 have been my new favorite seasons for me Last edited by Hamburglar; 04-18-2008 at 08:52 PM. |

Even while Season 6 and 7 of Family Guy are terrible, it is still a funny show. While there are more and more episodes that just miss the mark (Bill and Peter's Bogus Adventure, Mother Tucker, Prick Up Your Ears, I Take Thee Quagmire, I've Got Woods, McStroke, etc.) Seasons 6 and 7 still feature Family Guy's trademark humour. While it really is a crap season, I bought Season 6 because the show can still make me laugh (and because Road to Rupert from S6 is an excellent, excellent episode).
Season 1 of Family Guy is okay, but the humor has no depth. Season 2 is the best, followed closely by Season 3, although around this time you could see the show was changing style (Season 3 also has my favourite ever episode, Brian Wallows and Peter's Swallows). Season 4, while trying to appeal too much to teenagers, is still a hilarious season. Same with Season 5. South Park started off a good show. At about Season 3, it became a better show. And at around Season 6, it became an even better show. At around Season 9, it became a bad show. At around Season 11, it became a worse show (I'm leaving Season 10 out of this, it's a fantastic season). While South Park may still have imaginative plots and the satire is still up to quality, and while they still know how to parody something, the humour is become nauseatingly stale and repetitive. South Park was always a funny show, but you just cannot even compare its humour to the brilliance of Family Guy and Drawn Together. In reply to Drawn Together not being brilliant. It isn't a brilliant show at first. But it knows it's not a brilliant show, which is what makes it a brilliant show. Drawn Together is as funny as Family Guy. While it doesn't have the same unique sense of humour (okay, it does sometimes) that doesn't stop it from crossing the line and being downright hilarious. There are some episodes of DT that I would proudly disown if I was involved with the show, but there isn't an episode I've seen that hasn't been able to redeem itself in some way. |
