This is the best that I've ever seen it. And I saw the original release in the same flagship 70mm theater that presented 2001 in 1968..

I got around to watching this wonderful film last night for the first time ever. Blind buy for me. What a great film. Wonderful Transfer to top it off from Sony. I'm always more amazed at older films with wonderful transfers such as this film then newer films. Always enjoy watching what this format is capable of.

Yes, it is a good film very well presented on blu...And we'll see a lot more of David Lean this year.

I would like to see Ryan's Daughter on blu. That was shot 70mm and should look spectacular. I also think it's rather underrated. But you could say the same with this one...

This film has a leisurely pace, and is rather ambiguous, but that's part of what makes it interesting. It still has shots that can take my breath away. Like the railway on the bridge. When I found out how much work in the documentary they went to for just that one shot, it kind of blew me away...

I wish there was a limited edition in the style of LoA, or at least a nice DigiBook.
This movie so deserves special treatment.
All of David Lean's films I have on BD have great packaging, except this one.
It might be my favourite of his too.

- Picture quality-wise?
- Extras-wise?

Was watching this wonderful film on Netflix last night while on vacation and couldn’t help but think this would look gorgeous with how far scanning and restoration technology has come since ‘08. Here’s hoping for a 4K release. Anyone think this older Blu would be reviewed with as high a score today? I am considering snagging it, it’s not too costly.

I hadn't watched the blu in some time. I decided to watch it today. After hearing that nice opening music and how nice the movie looks, I had to check to see if it made it to 4k. Oh well, I hope that it's on the Sony's/Columbia list to do. I like the movie very much. It looks great on blu-ray and should shine even better on UHD.
