Did not know that would work, though my gta doesn't freeze up anymore. I took out a corrupted compact flash out and thought that did the trick. Still good to know.

I am glad that this has resolved a lot of users issues. I have been extremely lucky with GTAIV, I have a 60 gig launch (PAL region) model and I have as yet not had any lock-up issues. I would be extremely concerned as I love my PS3 and would feel a little worried playing a game that could potentially damage my PS3.

R* I am sure will release a patch, for both consoles as soon as possible.

Hope you get it sorted out Shrek! and soon!

Just got my copy today and I'm a bit scared to even let it near the PS3 tbh.

Got my PS3 back in February and this is the second game I've bought for it. The freezing doesn't worry me too much but I don't want to brick the drive in it.

I feel bad for you guys, my SE version (played on 60gig) has never given me problems, even after about 15+ total hours of playing
