I agree completely, Englund IS Freddy and it is asinine to even try and put someone else in the role.

I would be far more "worried" if it didn't have HD video. You know: a degrained "Texas Detail Massacre"...

Think of it like going to a restaurant. Most people will order something they know, and know they like, rather than try something completely new. |

Doesn't Halloween include the original mono track as well as a lossless one? If so, has anyone compared them? I've only used the lossless.

But I do also agree with your comments. I do think a lot of people (including myself) do tend to stick to what they know. It's something that I have to consciously make an effort to do (i.e. occasionally try something out of my comfort zone). |

I own the SE dvd from a few years ago. I see no reason to upgrade. I can't see the movie looking that much better on BR since this was a very low budget film from '74. The dvd looks just fine imo
Enjoy to all who will buy it though |

I for one love the classic horror movies. In large part because they used the suspense factor throughout the movie that lead up to the conclusion. They just don't do that anymore. They would rather put in a couple moments that might make you jump and use a lot of blood. IMO the classics should be left alone. Now if they made an updated version and filmed it the way it was back in the day then that would be ok.

This movie isn't known so much as being an ear cancy film and I have known now from the darkskyfilms.com website it would be DD 5.1 and that is completely fine. It will contain the original MONO track also.
I am more angry over releases such as Speed Racer not containing a HD audio track - for this type of feature and the way it was made DD 5.1 is plenty fine. We shouldn't be so hard on Dark Sky over this either, point being I already own the 2 Disc steelbook edition of this release on standard dvd and it is the best the film has EVER looked. All previous LaserDisc editions never looked as good - and the previous DVD editions were some of the worst examples of digital compression I have ever seen.. anytime it was dark in the film it was blocthy digital blocks. It made it unwatchable. This Blu Ray should be one of the finest and probably greatest release of this film ever. I myself would prob prefer MONO on this release. The old Pioneer Special Editions were horrible looking.. The Dark Sky standard DVD is the best so far so I expect the Blu Ray to be awesome. DD 5.1 is not bad not for a classic 70's low budget film. HD audio would be nice but I am still buying this the day it comes out! |

i cant buy this movie for the fact of the effect of the movie. This movie needs to be a little grainy (like the dvd release) to get that home movie feel. It may be a buy for me if i can get it cheap on black friday or something but it is def not a big concern for me.
