I agree. I was intoxicated with the acting and flawlessly done sets and costuming from ep1.

personally, I think it's fantastic. I consider it one of the best shows of all time; the pacing is brilliant, the character development is like something you would find in a well written novel, the acting, dialogue, direction...perfecto.

However, I was trying to put myself in Op's shoes and basing my recommendation on that, y'know..would "he" like it from what I've seen of his thought process.

there is a thread dedicated to the topic already and since Op didn't bother to search for it and/or likes to get recommendations from random people who each have very distinct tastes I would think that they would find such a gem to be "boring".

Why waste the money? Join Netflix and rent the 3 disks. Its not a show you would watch repeatedly. Now they are done with Season 2 so why would you need to own the disks? If you want to a really great show watch The Wire.

I'm on season 2 disc 3 of Oz right now through netflix. Awesome show and I haven't seen it since it originally aired.

I've got Mad Men Season 1 in my NetFlix queue, and am looking forward to giving it a test drive. I've heard some pretty good things about this show, so here's to hoping.
