I happily blind bought this because I love The Cell, and was not disappointed. What amazed me even more was when I found out that the film was made with NO visual effects at all.

Man, you guys have me hyped to watch this now. It came in yesterday but my wife wanted a comedy so we watched "Smart People" instead. Pretty funny flick.

Anyway, hopefully I'll get a chance to watch it tonight and it'll hold up to everyone's opinions!

I'm still upset that Disney hasn't released their restored animated film Destino. I was able to watch it at LACMA when they had the Dalí exhibit.

The other thing that suprised me was in the extras when Tarsem explains his directing style with the young actress. No wonder it took him so long to find the right person.

I believe she is Romanian which is a bit surprising as I was expecting him to opt for a Bulgarian girl (the original story/film The Fall is based on is Bulgarian).
Nevertheless, she did an outstanding job.

The visuals were great, but I found little harmony in the story. The surrealist/dream like sequences were to much for me. The little girl was very cute, and did a good acting job. However, way to much time was lost focusing on her doing absolutely nothing. I just found the movie to be quite boring.

This site's reviewer seemed to like the audio:
The Fall Review

Quote:
The Fall's only audio option is an English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, and one can hardly complain given the quality of the lossless codec. Dialogue is sharp and precise, making Alexandria's mangled quasi-English jabbering all the more endearing. The lush ambiance and foley effects are given a generous treatment by the front and rear channels, creating a full and convincing soundscape. A very orchestral score, featuring Beethoven's Symphony No. 7, is utterly gorgeous to hear and never overwhelms the onscreen action when the instrumentalists rise to meet it. Ample LFE is used for dramatic effect, but like the score, does not ever dominate nor eclipse the audio to an annoying degree.

Complementing the film's rich visuals with an equally lavish score and aural presentation was not an easy task. One can only conjecture that Tarsem found it more fitting - and certainly more affordable - to use the work of an established master than to bring in a composer to attempt a new accompaniment. I would say it worked out quite well for the director, and this lossless Blu-ray presentation makes it all the more effective.
I also have the film and had no issues with the audio throughout.

doubtful. Did you hear any audio drops, static or popping? Could've been your hdmi cable depending upon the output selection from your player to your receiver. Early hdmi spec cables can't handle audio the same way the newer 1.3a/b spec cables can depending upon how you were outputting the audio.

What are your settings from player, which model, to receiver, which as well?

I got it on Netflix (didn't notice any sound problems, Teabaggins)... I just watched it on Friday night with a few friends and we all loved it.

I thought the little girl's part was some of the best casting/scripting work in years. Lee Pace did very well too.

It was visually amazing and quite entertaining. It'll definitely be added to my collection soon.

Blockbuster Online for me. I had no issues with the sound.

I liked it, but didn't love it. The third act kind of killed it for me. A beautiful movie with a message that I liked, but I found myself more engrossed with the "inner" story than I was with what was going on in the real world.

I liked it, and I'm glad I saw it, but it's not one that I will be picking up.

I wanted to bump this thread.
I got a chance to sit down and watch this blu-ray yesterday and I wasn't let down.
Great movie, incredible acting and the audio/visuals were top-notch.
Highly recommended! 5/5 on every aspect of it.

Finally ordered this. It's $16.49 at Amazon right now and it's the lowest I've seen. Can't wait to watch it. Heard nothing but great reviews.

ME too. I just saw the cover on this site's Latest Price Drops at Amazon, and read the reviews.
I had never even heard of this movie until moments ago.

I just blind-ordered it, and hope it'll be my kind of film.

Hope it's not too brutal. Someone mentioned it's pretty brutal at times.

Well, I'll see in about a month.

Told my co worker that the price on this movie went down and boy did he order it right away without hesitation. He also has been waiting for this movie to go down in price as well and this price is perfect. He's been eyeing on this for so long and it just did not go down in price till early this morning at 12 am. I am very excited to see this movie. I ordered this at 12:05 this morning cause I had this on my price tracker, and I just got an e-mail from Amazon that my order had just shipped and will be delivered tomorrow. Have Prime and I'm getting it in one day. Awesome, love Amazon!
