"DTS bomb" refers to exceedingly loud audio interference 'pops' during playback. He's not saying it like "yo, only 'Murica's got dat bomb DTS track!"

The A-locked US release is a BD-50 (I can confirm, I own it) and has in my own opinion the best PQ/AQ combo with excellent image and 7.1 DTS-HD MA audio. Purely for the amount of extras the French release triumphs the US release but that's not English friendly and has forced French subs.

Just popped this disc in for the first time. I’m noticing that in dark black areas (the cave, shadows) the blacks look crushed but not into pure black - instead dark red or purple depending on the scene.

I’m on a Panasonic 420, Samsung MU8000, with proper settings. Anyone else experience this? It’s pretty jarring for such a dark, atmospheric movie. Otherwise the movie looks great.

People who can't stand subtitles usually just don't read that quickly and the time spent reading, removes important time they want to spend watching the action on screen - which is totally valid but those able to read at a faster speed, actually prefer subtitles I find.

I am one of the slowest readers I think anyone might ever meet. But I absolutely love Pan's Labyrinth. So, I also prefer subtitles if indeed it's the language used during the filming.

Much of the Italian horror and gialli were filmed without audio, so anything from that country was made with an English soundtrack in mind, thus I go with the English on them. Not saying The Orphanage is from Italy. I know it's a Spanish language movie.

So, again, when it comes to a foreign movie, I usually use the subtitles. I can always pause the movie to read it.
