Can't wait for this one...easily my favourite movie of the year. As I said in the news article announcing its release date, I've seen it 4 times in theatres thus far.

To put that in perspective, I've never seen any other movie that many times in theatres during its original theatrical run. The exception would be The Nightmare Before Christmas, for which I count 6 theatrical viewings, but the last 3 of those were in Digital 3-D....I only saw it 3 times in its original run back in '93.

I'd really like to see Pixar take a chance and enter Wall•E in the Best Film category at next year's Oscars. It's a shoe-in to win Best Animated Feature, but should be given serious consideration as the year's best film regardless of genre or medium. It's an incredibly charming, touching, poignant and timely movie.

Anyway, as I said...I cannot wait for this title. And if I have the opportunity, I will be seeing Wall•E in the cinema for a fifth time. It's Pixar's finest film to date, and I've loved every one of their efforts to varying degrees.

Not to mention that Presto, the short which preceded it, was worth the price of admission itself...a brilliant homage to Chuck Jones and the rest of the Looney Tunes crew.

Haven't seen the film yet.
The trailer makes the impression that Wall-E is more or less a silent movie in terms of spoken language. Is it so?

It's an OK film, not one that would automatically make it into my collection. I would recommend renting first. Yes, it is pretty much a silent movie in the sense that there is no dialogue in English per se, There is some spoken dialogue by the humans, but you do understand the dialogue between the characters through the types of noises they make.

Another film that I felt got a lot of publicity, but did not quite live up to it's billing.

For me The Incredibles is a much better film.

For the first 45 minutes or so, there almost no dialogue spoken, apart from one-word exchanges between the lead robots. The rest of the movie has much more dialogue than the beginning, but it's still fairly limited.

Which makes the achievement that much more incredible, if you ask me. Wall•E was a big risk for Andrew Stanton and Pixar, but for my money it's their best film, hands-down. The Incredibles runs a distant second, and I adored that film.

That said, I wouldn't recommend Wall•E to kids under about 8 years of age or so. The lack of dialogue tends to put them off, and this film is just adult enough (though still rightly G-rated) to lose their attention at times. As much as kids of a young age will love the look of Wall•E the character, Wall•E the film is a bit more challenging than the average 5-year-old can handle...and I speak from first-hand experience.
