I am curious what you are all using to dial in or I guess calibrate your subs?

Tried it again, and it works fine. I must have not had it hooked the way I thought I did initially.

I am curious what audeyssey set your crossover at? Did it set your fronts and center to Full Band or did you turn them down?

I used my calibration mic, and then finished leveling off by ear. I need to pick up a SPL meter. Calibration did not adjust my crossover, it was set at 120 as my speakers were set to small. I turned it down to 80Hz.

My fronts are on full-band (which works great) and my center is around 70hz. I'm not too sure about my sub though, but it's great across the board in my opinion.

I did some wire maintenance with the sub, cleaned things up a bit. I think I am finally done with my home theatre purchases.....for now.

I was close to buying the same exact one yesterday. However, I've now decided to wait on the TV stand and save for the TV.

Funny thing is, I bought a 40 inch TV because my wife was deadset on keeping our old TV stand and it was he biggest that would fit. Two months later we had this stand....

My audeyssey set all my front speakers to Full band, but I was reading at another forum that if you set your fronts to 80hz or even 60hz that you will get more out of your sub? I was wondering if you have messed around with the crossover setting to see if it produces any better sound. Heres a link if you care to read.

I just got an email saying the matte finish price has been cut from $100 to $35 on the A2-300- fortunately they were able to change my order, which is "in woodshop".

I use the Audessey calibration program on my Denon receiver, but I don't trust it 100%. I usually fine tune my system with an SPL meter. The following is a section on crossover frequency setting from A Guide to Subwoofers, sticky under Speaker Discussion.

"Run the test tone generator for intervals between 30Hz to 200HZ and listen to the output level or measure it with an SPL meter. If different output levels are heard or read by the SPL meter for different frequencies, it is quite normal as different frequencies interact differently with the room acoustics. Increase or decrease the low-pass frequency to achieve the smoothest response. Decrease the crossover frequency if there is too much output around the crossover point, increase it if you notice a drop in the response.

In general, if the main speakers are large and capable of creating low frequency sound, it will be easier to match them with a subwoofer as opposed to the smaller speakers that most people own. However, it is not always best to set the crossover frequency at the lowest possible frequency to avoid the sonic signature of the subwoofer. If the crossover is set as low as possible, the subwoofer cannot stimulate the main speaker drivers near their resonance frequency, leaving only the main speakers as the dominant resonance contributor. If the crossover is set slightly higher, the bass from the subwoofer and the main speakers can reinforce one another resulting in a smoother and more pleasing bass.
"

There is also a section on Phase Setting. If you need information about SPL meters, read Calibrating Your Audio with an SPL Meter, sticky under Receiver Discussion.

I have been doing some research on the ED A2-300 and it falls wiithin my price range, although slightly on the high side at 315.
Here is my current setup, let me know if you think the A2-300 would be a good fit or if there is any other sub that could be recommended.

Front - RTI8's
Center - CSI2
Rear - RTI4's
Receiver - Onkyo TX SR805
current sub - optimus (very boomy)

The eD would be your best choice. By the way, nice speakers!
