Default The Shining is the way to go

I own The Shining and 2001: A Space Odyssey (Kubrick movies), and the quality on these blurays are fenomenal. I am also planning to buy A Clockwork Orange, but I highly recommend getting The Shining, the movie is a masterpiece and the quality is excellent.

My Best Buy made the choice for me... All they had left was a single copy of Clockwork.

I like both of these movies but it's hard for me to buy either one. There is a scene in each that I find disturbing so ... I don't know how much I'll watch them. I think I only watched my Shining DVD copy once and I've had that one for years.

You can't go wrong with either. Anyone who likes Clockwork should read the novel (remember books?) it was based on - much different (and I think better) ending, and lot's more Orange-speak in the book.

The Shining.

Haven't seen A Clockwork Orange, but The Shining is boss.

Sure,

In Clockwork Orange

[Show spoiler] It's the rape scenes. Never fails to disturb me.

In The Shining...

[Show spoiler] It's the scene where the nice looking girl gets out of the shower nude and then turns into a rotting corpse. Very distrubing to me.

Anyway,.. my Best Buy tricked me... They were just hiding the copies they had of the shining in another part of the store so I ended up getting them both.

Buy both. If you can only buy one:

The Shining > A Clockwork Orange

Well get both of them but The shining has the much better pic quality. Clockwork only has a very marginal upgrade over the DVD..though it does have some cool features on it. If pic/audio quality is what your after then id say The Shining..clockwork to me is a better film but it had disappointing pic quality.

I read the book, and actually was glad that Kubrick didn't know of the last chapter(he had an American copy that did not have it). I think it fits better as a movie without the last chapter where
[Show spoiler]Alex decides to be good and start a family and not be violent ever again. I think it would seem weird in a movie for "and then this happened, the end" to ruin the feel of the rest of the movie
