Yeah, I'm somewhat disappointed that this movie (aka I Heart You Paint Houses btw) seems to not exist. Hopefully Silence will be good, I guess.

He's too busy making an Ali movie. Seems to have forgotten that we got a perfectly good one 14 years ago from Michael Mann.

Robert De Niro has confirmed that his long-planned Scorsese collaboration, I Heard You Paint Houses, is set to shoot next year.

De Niro revealed the news to Digital Spy while promoting The Intern with Anne Hathaway.

"We are doing it... We should be doing it sometime next year," De Niro said. "We're slowly, slowly getting it in place."

This is great news for anyone who's a fan of their previous work together, whether it's Goodfellas, Taxi Driver, Cape Fear, Raging Bull, Casino or the film that started it all, Mean Streets.

What's more, the plan is to bring Al Pacino and Joe Pesci along for the ride, making this gangster movie a who's who of seasoned big screen wise guys.

The project, also known as The Irishman, is based on a book by author Charles Brandt called "I Heard You Paint Houses: The Story Of The Biggest Mob Hit In History".

As the book's blurb explains it, the real-life story revolves notorious mobster hitman Frank 'the Irishman' Sheeran (who De Niro is set to play): "To paint a house is to kill a man. The paint is the blood that splatters on the wall and floors.

"In the course of nearly five years of recorded interviews Frank Sheeran confessed to Charles Brandt that he handled more than twenty-five hits for the mob, and for his friend [Teamsters International President Jimmy] Hoffa."

Recently, De Niro has only had the following to say about the planned film, revealed on a recent visit to The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon:

"We have been trying to do [the film] for the last few years, and I think we will do it.

"It's about a guy who... confessed that he killed [Jimmy] Hoffa and [infamous New York gangster] Joe Gallo.

"I'm gonna play that character. That's something I'm looking forward to very much..."

With production, as De Niro puts it, still going "slowly, slowly", there are no confirmed dates for I Heard You Paint Houses just yet.

Nancy Meyer's latest, The Intern, is out in UK cinemas tomorrow (Friday October 2), and you can watch the trailer for it below.

Martin Scorsese needs to bring Leonardo DiCaprio, Harvey Keitel, Ray Liotta, Frank Vincent and Mark Walhberg in this movie, too. Many people (including myself) would love a Martin Scorsese movie with Robert DeNiro, Leonardo DiCaprio, Harvey Keitel, Ray Liotta, Al Pacino, Joe Pesci, Frank Vincent and Mark Wahlberg.

It'll be interesting. I don't think it's necessarily guaranteed to be good; one problem with actors as they got older is that they struggle to commit emotionally and physically to parts like they used to, but you'd have to think Scorsese's skill and drive would pull them together for one last hit.

Saw a recent episode of the Tonight Show where De Niro stated that a Scorsese project is in the works with him Pesci, Keitel, and possible Pacino.

So "I Heard You Paint Houses" IS The Irishman, did not know that. Hope they do it before we lose anyone like Pesci for whatever reason. Is this coming before or after Devil In a White City?

Spielberg was attached for a time, but not officially. Dicaprio told friends he was looking forward to working with him again.
