Besides, how hard can it be to put both versions on a BD. They can use branching to save space and not have to put two complete versions on the disc.
They did it with the Alien vs Predator movies (theatrical & unrated cut on one disc), so why not with LotR? |

RETURN OF THE KING is a 4hr + movie and hopefully will offer a lossless track (hopefully 6.1 like the DVD or 7.1). If it replicates the DVD's track, it will have to have foreign language and at least 4 commentaries, along with a legacy track (this is where DTS-MA can come in handy) and if you add in any type of Bonus View material along with the video, that can really take up real estate on the disc. Is it possible for it to be on one disc? I'm sure it is and i'd love to see that so long as there is no compromise in audio/video quality. |

The theatrical versions are good but after seeing the extended cuts you just can't go back. The theatrical versions just seem incomplete in comparison.

The Extended Cut of Return of the King fixed many of my issues with that film -- I was disappointed with the theatrical, particularly the lack of focus on Sam and Frodo making their way to Mt. Doom -- although I'll never forgive the "Sam Go Home" b.s.

I understand how good the extended versions are but we have a rumored release in the forseeable future of the LOTR movies and we have 4 pages of *****ing and whining. I guess I am one of the select few who are excited about this.

And yeah i agree it must be the Extended movies they are WAY superior. And I really don't think warner is going to mess up LOTR. These movies are considered best movies of all time and that is not wrong ![]() |

I am new here and this is my first post. So hello every one. Blu Ray rules and DVD drools.
As for the LOTR Blu releases, WB/NL can stuff the theatrical releases up where the sun don't shine. I will only accept the extended cuts of the films. The theatrical releases were all right in the theater but after watching the extended cut version I just cannot go back to the normal cuts. So no double dipping for me. Extended cuts ONLY. ![]() |
