The 700 series is being discontinued. The CM7`s are 2k/pr i believe and the CM9`s are 3k/pr.

Home Theater Store is a good site to browse MSRPs. I've never purchased from them, but it's a good place to start when you're just sorting through your options and comparing stats and prices.

Do you have a budget?

Also, you need to take into consideration electronics. Some B&W's sing a much sweeter song with better electronics (or at least a dedicated amp).

Once you start getting into the higher end products, you start to look at ALL of your system -- Speaker wires, 2-ch audio gear, RCA cables, XLR cables, room treatments -- and see what you can change to get everything out of your system.

I guess I shouldn't limit it to higher end. Anyone can start to go crazy with what they can buy to make it "better." Damn upgraditis will get you every time. Crazy thing is that it always attacks the wallet first.

Thanks guys, that's exactly what I was looking for. At least now I have an idea of how much it will hurt.

They sent me to my distributor, the fine chaps I bought them from back in September. And B&W has been giving my distributors all sorts of hell over just the silly bases! I've given B&W all the info, the serial numbers, the invoice, and now they might even want pictures? Ridiculous. I thought it would be something as simple as calling and them sending me replacements. Guess not.

btf, I would love to hear some more feed back about your CMC2 as i am looking at this speaker along with CM9`s. Have you ever heard the htm2 or 3 and if so, how would the CMC2 compare?
If i don`t go with the CM`s i might jump up to the 803D(probably used).
Right now i am using a pio sc-05 avr only, if i jump to the 800`s i`d probably
have to go to a separate amp(more dough).

Thanks

I have heard all the above center channel speakers, and they are all good. You need to be clear on what path you want to take however, whether it is the CM series route or the 800 series route.

If you do go with the 803D, then forget the htm3, the htm2 would be a far better match since it has the diamond dome tweeter.

If you go with the CM9, then the CMC2 is the ideal choice.

In terms of performance, both the htm2 and the htm3 are superior to the CMC2, but again it's not really a fair comparison as they are two separate classes of speakers in different series.

JJ, how did the plinths become unglued? I have 683s as well and my plinths ratchet down with machine screws. Different on yours?

Heck, I wish I knew. they're bolted down in the middle, it seems, but glued on elsewhere. Glue came off on the edges where the speaker isnt in compression with the plinth itself.

So the veneer is peeling back from the substrate underneath? That's wildly unfortunate...

HAHA congrats! I spoke to my wife about upgrading my speakers. And I got that look, you know the look like erase that thought immediately! So I did! But after speaking to a lot of you on here. I figured an amp would be a good alternative to improve my speakers.

On another note! Does anyone know where I could find a pair of 9NT's?
