Just played the demo, Impressions:
-Feels like a button smasher to me, a la Devil May Cry. -Graphics are not that good but is ok -Controllers are pretty swift -Seems like upgrade system is huge, only 4 slots for magic, I hope they have more than that. -Story wise, too early to tell but nothing impressive, rescue the damsel in distress? Will I buy it when it comes out? Hell Yeah, day 1 |

It's pretty clear who EA's going after in terms of competition here. But I don't think it's a bad thing. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and if people get through GOW quickly and want more, then this'll be it. I wasn't expecting the blatant nudity or the great cutscene graphics. I'll need to see more of the gameplay graphics to determine just how nice they look. I also thought it was too short and didn't think it ended as well as the GOW3 demo. I'll be getting it but do we know if games like Heavy Rain or GT5 will be coming out near the release date of this one?

Wow, having not followed this game, not just played the demo, I have to say this is God of War with new people. The gameplay is exactly the same. The setting seems extremely familiar. In GoW, you get health from green orbs which come from glowing treasure chests, you must button mash to open; in DI, you get it from green orbs that come from glowing fountains, you must button mash to open. Even the pause menu and how things are layed out are very reminiscent with God of War. It has the nudity and the
[Show spoiler] . It feels and looks alot more like a GoW clone than other similar games which have been released have. But with that aside and judging it based on itself, what it has done, its done well. The gameplay does feel well done, and everything is presented well. When it comes out, its definetly going to get compared to GoW, especially with the third game coming out around the same time and those comparisons will be justified

Nothing like starting a demo off with a boss fight. At first I thought I was suppose to let death kill me. I was hitting him and nothing was happening. Once half my life bar was gone I realized his health bar drains backwards. So I made the fight harder then it really was.
![]() This is a day 1 game for me. I love me some epic brutal action games. Also - The music is awesome. The cutscene art is cool. The QTE's need some work(too hard to see). And the graphics weren't as good as I hoped but I'm sure they'll look better come release day. |

I wish you could see how much I started cracking up when I read this. Anyways, I figured out one reason at least why I want this game to do well. Best-selling games get sequels and I would love to see Purgatorio and Paradiso depicted. The developer basically has free reign when it comes to creatures. Sure, the Catholic church might get into an uproar but I'm willing to wait.

I just played through the demo last night. My impressions:
- Yes, feels extremely derivative of God of War. Except cheesier, and makes less sense. Dante Alleghieri is probably rolling over in his grave over the completely missed point of this game. The Divine Comedy is satire of the highest caliber, not an excuse to re-imagine dismembering hordes of dead souls. - Controls are fairly tight. Not as good as God of War's. The combo system is far less fluid. I'm not sure I like how quickly you can block - there's really no commitment when you attack - hit the block button and you can literally guard an attack from any direction even if you just landed a hit 1 frame ago. This encourages the worst sort of button mashing, and only reacting with the block button when you think you're going to get hit. - Most of the combat upgrades generally suck, or at least seem to. A lot of them seem like wasted points. - Levelling up your Holy/Unholy XP bar is a pain in the backside. Spamming R2 + ![]() ![]() - Graphics are above average but nothing to write home about. Resolution seems good, frame rate looked pretty steady even with lots of enemies on-screen. The life/magic bars are a little thin and sort of hard to see up there at the top without taking your eyes off the action. Environment quality is hit-and-miss. Some of the areas are pretty, but some are just plain ugly and look terribly fake and out of place. - The level design is a little rough and incredibly linear, and the platforming is loltastic. I know it's a demo and I shouldn't judge it by the early levels, but seriously... - Gratuitous breasts were neither a yay nor a nay for me. My issue with it was mostly that it was done for shock value rather than any necessity from a storyline standpoint, and that's a really terrible way to handle storytelling. Overall grade: C+ God of War demo blows this out of the water, no joke. Doesn't make it a bad game, but it needs another few levels of polish to come anywhere near God of War 3. |

Also, is it my imagination, or can you level up both Holy and Unholy (how does that even make any sense...)?
