+1

My 1000 watt subwoofer amp did intermittently soft clip on the peaks during that subsonic bass. Yes, indeed awesome for bass lovers.

Did any of you lucky ones who own the 400 lb (weight not cost) Krell Master Reference Subwoofer get to audition it during these particular scenes in Hellboy 2? If so please describe in English or Polski one word that describes the sound you heard and please don't use any of the common ordinary words that describe my own subwoofer: awesome, stunning, spectacular, fantastic, phenomenal, earthshaking...

John Mayer's Where the Light is Blu-ray is pretty amazing. 24/96 Dolby TrueHD averages 8 mbps. Sounds unbelievable.

Agreed on transformers... a friend and his wife were over and she said "I guess you have to have a P____ to get exited by this sound stuff, I mean - why do you need all those speakers?"

So I put in Transformers and proceeded to hit some of my favorite scenes...

Even without a sub, crap sounded like it was exploding all over my living room.

She was still unimpressed.

Did I mention she wont let my friend buy a PS3? Yeah, that's how much she sucks...

IMO, Black Hawk Down has one of the greatest surround traqs put on DVD or Blu-Ray. Don't forget it received an Academy Award for sound the year it was released. It seems to be holding its own; even among the new releases...and its an inexpensive BD, too.

Dave Matthews Band: Live at Radio City Music Hall. 24/96 TrueHD at a glorious 1.78:1 Ratio. Definitely pick this up just for the killer audio, if nothing else.

The Orphanage also has a bone chilling DTS-HD Master 7.1 track.

Here are my picks for great overall audio.

3:10 To Yuma
Cloverfield
Street Kings (LFE can be borderline overwhelming)
Mr. and Mrs. Smith
Shakira - Oral Fixation
NIN - Beside You In Time
Live Free or Die Hard
I, Robot
The Descent (Surprised more people are not mentioning this. Best use of surrounds i've heard in a long time)
Doomsday (Nonsense popcorn flick, but sounds great)
Master and Commander (MUST OWN TITLE)
Rambo (Again, just terrific. Very aggressive soundtrack.)
Fifth Element (Remastered version)
Kung Fu Hustle (An underrated title)
Kill Bill (both of them are great)

That is specfically the second time they show this as the first time shown in the beginning of the movie was brief and not as dynamic. In this scene, he is being exposed to the gamma rays, and man is that scene loud?!

I can't say how much I appreciate Blu-ray because before BD, I never cared for sound, but now it's taken over like a flu. And not just in movies but in music as well.

Kung Fu Panda is pretty amazing for details, Master and Commander for realism, Cloverfield for immersiveness. But here's something different to try: Sleeping Beauty. The music in that movie is a revelation and significantly better reproduced than on the CD release. The waltz coming in the scene when Merryweather is cleaning (I believe the scene is called "Meanwhile Back at the Cottage") is nothing short of amazing. It sounds so clean for its age, the music is so beautiful, and its reproduction is breathtaking. And thank God for lossless audio as it expands the soundstage widely. And I've never noticed the bass of any orchestra until now. Now, I'm always looking for those low notes.

Sweeney Todd also has excellent music. Before I really analyzed it, I just loved the lyrics, but with BD, you can really appreciate Sondheim's genius orchestration. The other Tim Burton musical, A Nightmare Before Christmas, is another one to be heard.

AGREED...and yes Sweeney Todd, although a musical, sounded excellent. Still, my all time favorite for Audio Quality is TRANSFORMERS

Agreed! The shotgun sounds lovely in PCM.

Mine would be the fight scene at the begining of Kill Bill Vol. 1 in LPCM.

The glass and bodies slamming delivers extreme Highs and Booming lows.

Also, the Story of Orin Ishi in Anime sounds intense during punch scenes.

And finally, the fight with Go Go in the bar sounds rediculus!

Master & commander without a doubt. I'm waiting to hear the opening scenes of saving private ryan uncompressed though , on DVD that was always the one to annoy the neighbours (and that was on my crappy sony htib)
