This has me curious too, so how many people here have actually recieved orders from CHCanada and how long did it take? it's a bit confusing since half of you guys are talking about CHCanada and the other half are going on about Columbia House Canada..
Anyway there are some good loss leaders in there , Hancock, Hellboy 2, Incredible Hulk etc all running at $13 Last edited by fathamburger; 01-12-2009 at 02:14 AM. |

Cardman I hope you are lucky with Hancock coming in soon most of my orders were new releases dating back to when wanted was released up to last weeks releases so it seems to be new releases that take long cuase I ordered some older titles and got them a week and a half later
However I did get an email from columbiahouse and it said in the email that they have been having problems with keeping supply of demand with most of the new releases lately and even though they sent me 12 of my titles at once I do not have to make the full payment at once wich is a relief for me I guess cuae of the extensive wait I have had to |

chcanada.com is columbiahouse just each site has diffrent benifits like chcnada.com does not currently have the buy one and choose other selected titles for 50% off also chcanada.com askes you buy 2 a club price each year were the other one asks for 4 titles for just one year but have been on each site and even though the wait might be longer columbiahousecanada.com seems to be cheaper even on there regular priced movies for example Bangkok Dangerous was $42.99 on chcanada.com at regular price but on columbiahousecanada.com it is $32.99 regular price but I got it for $14.50 with the 50% off

I know there are a few threads about Columbia House Canada but they are all specific to various deals and sales I believe. I thought we could have a single general thread about Columbia House Canada. Note that that is the original club and not the new website at chcanada.com we're talking about here. There is a separate thread for the chcanada.com website.

I personally would like to comment that they finally shipped me my copy of Wanted on Blu-ray after a 6+ week delay. They cancelled it on me once but I got them to put the order back and now it has apparently shipped (according to their phone status line). Based on past experience I suspect it will take 1-2 weeks to get to me.
The only item i'm still waiting on is The Incredible Hulk. They cancelled this on me last week but I have sent off an email to get the order re-instated (and at the $11 sale price with free shipping). I'm not complaining about the columbia house delays since I knew they would happen before I signed up. The prices with their sales are really good and I am ok with waiting. 6 weeks is likely pushing the limits but in general a week or 2 delay is what I expect on most new releases from them. |

Well there are a few of the biggest releases in the last couple of months that they ran out of stock on. They seem to eventually get them in though and ship out.
The main things to understand going in would be: -the delays on received newly released titles (I'd say on average 1 week after release day before they ship them to you). -no real way to check the status of your order other than using their automated phone line (which is only toll free in the Toronto area) -after they say an item has shipped using the above phone line (or by talking to them in person) it takes 1-2 weeks for you to get the shipment. I'm not sure what kind of shipping deal they have with Canada Post but it's pretty slow. -They don't stock all titles - i'd say their list is just over 1/2 of what is out there. The main missing ones are any Disney-affilated titles (since they have their own club). There are many other missing releases though -Your initial signup selection of Blu-rays is limited and many tend to be out of stock. You may need to go back and forth with them a few times on the phone before you end up with all your initial Blu-rays in hand The main advantages: -Really good sale prices ($12 or $13 total (including shipping and taxes) with their best sales per Blu-ray) -Many of their titles are solely English covers but it's hard to verify for sure ahead of time which you would get. The majority of bilingual ones are those which Alliance has the distribution rights to in Canada. So if someone is ok with waiting on new releases to save money and having to call the company from time to time then Columbia House is a great way to save money on Blu-rays in Canada. I have to say that every time I have called their telephone line and talked to someone they have helped me with what I wanted and been nice. |

I have had tropic thunder and the incrediable hulk order cacnelled, and Wanted is still back ordered. I wish they'd improve their system to show current order status, i hate calling in and all they say is the order shipped, not which movies. i guess this is the price I pay for cheap movies lol.

Be careful when you place your order especially if you place a large order. The online order can only accommodate up to certain number of items and up to certain dollar value normally around $110 or $120. It happened to me about 2 years ago before they offered blu-ray titles and it still happens today. If the limit has been exceeded you will see all the amount becomes ****** and you won't be able to see if you will receive free shipping or if the item is 50% or 60% off. What happened about 2 years ago, I still went ahead and placed my order since there was an assurance on the order saying something along this line like please be assured that we will process your order correctly. But it didn't and I didn't get free shipping at all. It was so frustrating to tell the customer service what was going on and they had no clue what is wrong. Now, if I place an order and I couldn't see the amount due to the number of items or total amount then I call the customer service number and place the order with them.
