Tell her thanks! We love our kitchen. It's probably my second favorite room, right behind my living room.

Seriously though, the WAF on the STF-2 is very high. It's got some size to it, but it's more tall than wide so the footprint is still relatively small.

Talking SVS PB13-Ultra Arrived Today - Pics

My Ultra just arrived!

Click the link to view my Picasa web album: http://picasaweb.google.com/dfennell...SPB13UltraSub#

Now I have to wait for my friend to get off work so he can help me get the beast inside the house.

I have a furniture mover and will use that to move it around the house. However, does anyone have any tips for getting the sub out of the box?

Dust "I have a furniture mover and will use that to move it around the house. However, does anyone have any tips for getting the sub out of the box?"

I have the same sub and this is what I did. I cut all the sides of the box off, then, being careful, I tipped it up on its side, placed the dolly under it, and sat it back down on the dolly, then rolled it to where it needed to go. I don't know if that helps. It was a bit of a struggle.

You will love your sub. I use mine with one port plugged, but you will discover what works best for you. It is amazing. Best investment I have made in my home theater. I will knock your **** in the dirt.

Update ~ got the sub out of the box. I removed the grill, then repacked the sub. Simply turned the box over and then lifted the box off the sub as Pirate King suggested.

Dust,

Wow, awesome man. Hah, when I saw the pic of your daughter I thought it was your wife at first. You look young!

Enjoy that bad boy and post some more pics in your house. I really like that they include two grills. That build quality looks amazing. So... how do you determine whether to use the port plugs or not?

Dust,

definitely post a review, that sub is massive! Gotta be 3 times the size of your current sub!

Agreed. I've always loved the look of the Earthquakes. They're so pretty! And they're supposed to be just evil sounding.

Dust,

I really like the Gloss black. That is what I wanted but to accommodate the WAF I settled for the Rosenut, which also really looks good. I know there are a lot of good high end subs out there, but I just cannot imagine any of them sounding better than the SVS PB13 ultra. Enjoy.

Mdabb,

The finish of that Earthquake is certainly unique. Does it match your other speakers? How much does it weigh? Give us a mini review.

I paid $50 extra for the metal grill...

From my understanding, I use the foam plugs to plug the ports in order to tune the sub down. For example, I'm going to start off plugging one port to bring the sub's tune to 15Hz. http://www.svsound.com/products-sub-....cfm#extension

The wife has seen the pics and is freaking out over the size. I did, however tell her it was either the SVS or this sub: http://www.techeblog.com/index.php/t...inch-subwoofer

However, that still didn't calm her down much. She'll get over it and enjoy it. She simply rolled her eyes and said, "Boys and their toys..."

Dust,

Congratulations on the new sub.

Perhaps we should eventually merge this thread with Non-ED (Elemental Designs) Subwoofers Thread. This is precisely what I was hoping that people who have great subwoofers from other manufacturers to open up and discuss their experience with their subs.

A few pics of my Paradigm Servo 15v2
Frequency Response +/-3dB from 15Hz, but usable output down to 12Hz.
4500 Watts peak, 1500 watts RMS, listed consumption on back is 1800W.
15" mother of a driver. Sealed sub.

Pulling it out for these pics made me realize that I need to give it a wee clean, and dust underneath my front speakers as you can see the dust behind the spikes.

The Servo is sitting on an Auralex Gramma ($49.95 from Sweetwater) to keep from losing energy to the walls/floors. If it loses anything, I'm unaware of it!!

Panorama:

I'll start my own gallery of pics later this year once my wife and I move into our new home, then I can set everything up the way I want it. Until then I'm not too concerned with wires showing, tidyness, etc.

Not even close. The HTM1D weighs over 200 lbs, has 3 woofers and the heavy midrange/tweeter elliptical unit built onto the top. The ASW825 is the smaller of B&W's two subs in the 800 range. It weighs about 65 lbs.

I hope you don't mind me asking this question. What is the cost of this sub? If you don't want to answer, it is OK.
I think the list price is $2750. I got mine for very little because of a mishap with the shipping, but that's another story. Basically, I got it for less than what the buyer of my ASW800 paid.
