So springtime is here and the rainy season has started.

Since we busted out that concrete on the backside of the house and put in some small patio blocks, I’ve been waiting to see if we get any water in the basement this spring.

So far…..NOTHING!!!

The real heavy rain hasn’t come yet but his is a small win so far b/c where we got the little water we did, it was where I wanted to put my HT!!

so we've had OT @ work the last couple weeks and i'm hoping it continue till the end of the year. if it does, my HT project will begin after labor day!!!

the 1st part of my project will be putting up the wall between my business side and the finished HT side.

Here is a layout of where the wall will go.

thanks guys.....i'm hoping i can get the whole thing framed out w/any OT money between now and the end of the year.

that 30 hours on the next paycheck should net me close to $400-$450 take home so i'm hoping to get my wall built and then get most of the next wall framed out. :fingerscrossed:

so a question for the guys that have refinished basements before:

should i avoid framing out below this stuff for my HT equipment??

i would imagine so but is it as easy as that?? yes you should never put electronics below piping like this??

i've also decided to put a straight wall w/a door instead of putting in so many corners when i put up my wall.

mostly b/c of this, there isn't anything to really anchor the wall to otherwise if i go below all of this duct work:

so it'll look like this where it goes straight across instead of cutting back and then up again:

You'll want to make sure you have an access door/panel to this stuff. you have a water shutoff (blue valve) and your collector for the sewage system. If in the future you have an issue, or think you might, quick access is important.

My grandpa used to make those things when he was still alive. Nothing but old veggie & coffee cans!!

I’m gonna have a suspended ceiling so I s/b able to remove panels & get to these valves if need be. I also plan on putting in a door so we can get to all of this piping if need be.

That is why I was now thinking of moving all of the equipment to another wall.

so i worked for most of the day today.....here's what i've got. mind you, i've never done this before by myself......and i didn't have any help today.

the north wall:

my movie cabinet......the framing on the left isn't final, i just put the stud on the far left in as a brace while working on the rest. that is where the door is going:

another shot of my custom movie cabinet!!!

64" tall x 90" wide

so i've done some figuring.....i s/b able to get 64 compartments into my movie cabinet, each one being 8" tall and a bit over 11 1/4" wide.

by my estimate, it s/b able to hold 1344 blus or 1152 dvd's!!!

also stopped @ menard’s this morning to pick up some smaller duct work…..i’m gonna run into a problem framing out the west side of the basement in 1 spot. the duct work that is there currently hangs down too far so I won’t be able to get my framing up.

hopefully it’ll be small enough to get the framing up w/o a problem when I’m done.
