My RW 12 came with a Y connector that allows for a single input into the receiver. I would think they would've included one with your order.

my HD-SUB10 came with a really little adapter, 1M/2F, but it wasn't a y adapter, i didn't use it cause I had purchased a y adapter previous to getting the sub.

OMG, watching TDK last night, had to turn down the subs volume....

The second base actually was a pain to set up. I had to place the sub in my listening position and find the spot that would work best. The first couple places I tried gave me standing waves and there was no bass. I found the spots that worked best and I continued to leave my ksw 10 hooked up in another corner (just for giggles) it all sounds great.

Whether it be from the subs or from the monitor 60s I had to reconfigure my x over to get the sound that i wanted. I had to go full range with double base on my mains and 80 on the center and 120 on the subs and 80 on the rear channel. Now it sounds as if you are inside the movie, really really full sounding.

You mean a solid Y adapter as opposed to a cable Y adapter.

Yes, it does. Plug the subwoofer cable coming out of your receiver to the female side and plug the two male sides to the red and white inputs on the sub.

Default Speaker level inputs?

I am thinking of getting an 8" Audio Acoustics sub for my "office" setup (old 5.1 entry-level Sony receiver with Polk Audio Bookshelf speakers) and was wondering how the sub performs using speaker level inputs. Anyone have any input?

Ended up ordering the HD-10 Cherry from them on ebay, 10% cashback made it around $140 Shipped. I decided on the size due to living in an apartment. If I move into a larger apartment or house, I can always order another one.

Thank you all for the useful info and pictures posted. The sub has already shipped so they dont lie about "super speed shipping"

Oh and I just ordered the Yamaha 6160 and it just got here today, its replacing an Yamaha 5960.
Is there any parts from monoprice I need to order to make this work? The sub I have now just uses a sun input (whatever the one wire cable is called)

I had a brief experience with the 8" Acoustic audio sub and it was impressive. Unfortunately, I did not use the speaker inputs. However, I do have experience with other subwoofers and speaker level inputs. You should have no worries. For a small office, this is a great sub at a great price.

Congratulations on your new sub. If you don't post pictures of your sub, we will come over to your house and confiscate it.

The subwoofer cable is the same as Digital Coaxial RG6 cable with RCA connectors at both ends. RG6 has better shielding than regular RCA cable and picks up less noise and hum along the way. It is the same cable as video cable. You can order the sub cable of appropriate length from Monoprice or buy a regular RG6 video cable from Wal-Mart, Home Depot, or Radio Shack and use F to RCA adapters at both ends.

The sub you ordered comes with an RCA cable and an RCA Y adapter (2 male, 1 female). You don't need the RCA cable. Insert the sub cable into the LFE out (sub pre-out) on the back of your receiver. At the other end , insert the sub cable into the female side of the Y adapter and the two male sides into the Red and White LFE input on the back of the sub.

Make sure you turn the volume to 50% point (no higher than 75%) and turn the crossover knob on the back of the sub all the way up to its maximum point. You will calibrate the sub volume and crossover in the receiver's menu.

yes, at 75% of the way up, watching the scene in TDK where he goes into the club for Maroney and the techno music hits, holy crap-oly, I felt like I was in the club. I keep my 10 HD sub about 5/8 of the way up NOW, my room is 12x16 roughly.

Congrats jstutman, I really think you will like this sub, has been great to me thus far. Make sure you recalibrate your system after hooking up the sub.

I was looking for a new sub when i came across an Acoustic audio 10in 400w sub at Ebay. the bid was at 60bucks and i thought hey why not, i put upto 75bucks. so i went to work and came back and refreshed the page knowing 100% that i would get out bidded but to my surprise, i got it for 69bucks!!! i was like oh sh*t! Cause i never heard of this brand. so i googled and couldn't find anything about it and their site said nothing. Then i found this site and phew! Man i am glad you made this thread.
