Reading the threads, it does feel to me that sometimes the same old films keep cropping up; Star Wars, Raiders, LOTR none of which I would want to own. But hey each to his/her own.

Back on topic, I would find it way too hard to name just 5; Now make it 200, then I could give it a stab.

A challenge?

I have to get up early tomorrow so can't do it tonight, but if this thread is still active at the weekend, I will give it a go.

The main reason for the high number is that I could not choose one film over another, as there are so many I really enjoy for one reason or another.

Am I allowed to include concerts ?
Or is it strictly movies?

.

A concert film would count I would say. I know...the five is hard to do and I know of so many other films that could easily take a spot in my top 5! When you say five though...it really brings the real favorites forward.

No particular order

Star Wars: A new Hope
LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring
Jaws
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Goldfinger (or Thunderball or Casino Royale)

Ask again tomorrow and it would probably be different.

Honorable mentions: Stand by Me, Unforgiven, The Thing (John Carpenter version), Die Hard, Shrek, Life of Brian

Some people listing a lot of movies made in the last year or so..... odd....

Superbad?? really??? I thought it had funny moments... but SERIOUSLY! These are the same kids who would have said "American Pie" 5 years ago today (has it been out 5 years????)

And I can't believe that many people liked Armageddon... I rented it a long time ago, and can't even remember anything about it!

No Order, I say....

Godfather
Star Wars (New Hope)
Brazil
Pulp Fiction
Raging Bull
Taxi Driver
2001
A Clockwork Orange
The Shining
Resevoir Dogs
One Flew Over the CooCoo's nest
The Exorcist
Citizen Kane
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

There's more, but I was only allowed five...

Movies I'll NEVER forget seeing the first time and can watch whenever. That's my criteria for best ever.

1. Star Wars + The Empire Strikes Back (Can't put either in front of the other)
2. Jaws
3. Raiders of the Lost Ark
4. Braveheart
5. Aliens

Honorable Mentions

Gladiator, Heat, Die Hard, Terminator 2, Back to the Future, Blade Runner,
Goodfellas, Saving Private Ryan.
