I can't wait to see if LOTR and the Blade series makes it to Blu Ray. Is New Line still undecided as to which format they are choosing?

No they're owned by Warner so they're neutral. And those WILL make it to BD. No IF about it

I wouldn't be to sure about that. WB is 'neutral', but some of their best movies are on HD DVD. The Matrix, Batman, Constantine are all WB/ HD DVDs.

O god, do we have to explain again why these titles have yet to grace Blu ray to another?

Yes. And can you, unlike so many other explanations in these forums, make it make at least a little sense. Look, I'm no pro either format but you all are so far in BD's business, you can't explain anything without this 'HD-DUD' stuff. It simply doesn't make sense to me that there are so many titles of WB's on HD DVD and BD and then some that aren't.

That is an interesting question...I don't think anyone really knows why. Of course there are writings in the media, and what WB's PR department says, but as to the true decision may only be with the bean counters and execs of WB as to why choosing one or the other...

75% of Warner's titles are on Blu.
Right now there's even one that's not on HD DVD

WB has stated that every title it has released on HD DUD will be released on BD too.

We're still waiting for some, but we know they WILL be on BD.

And no I won't stop saying HD-DUD cos thats what that format is and people need to know the facts

the thing is...you saying Batman Begins is exclusive to HD DVD....that's like saying HD DVD is going to have more than one or two Blockbuster movies in the top 20 movie sales for 2007...

Question New Line Cinema

Hey Guys, I'm new to this site. I also own a PS3 and enjoy it very much. I am also a supporter of Bl-Ray of course. I keep seeing discussions about Universal and how they are only with HD-DVD (for the time being) as much as I would love to see Universal make the change to Blu-Ray like many of you here, what about New Line Cinema?? I know for now, they are also with HD-DVD as one of their movie studio supporters, but as far as I know, they have yet to even make a High Def. movie. I personally would love to see the Rush Hour, Friday, and Austin Powers series on Blu-Ray. anyone here if New Line Cinema plans to go to Blu-ray at all?

New Line Cinema is owned by Warner Bros, so they are neutral, not HD DVD exclusive. As you said, they have yet to release any high-def titles, but when they do, it will be on both formats, unless WB were to alter alliances.

As you might expect, this subject (and many others) have been discussed quite often on here. Go to the forums page and use the search function before submitting a new thread, as your question may have already been answered.

New Line operates independantly, and therefore it is up to them to choose what formats to support. Remember New Line was the first Warner subsidiary to dump snappers? A full year before Warner proper?

This says to me that combined with the yield issues, the Blockbuster announcement has made NL say "screw it", so Warner can't get the yields to make it wort htheir while without more companies.
