I definitely would not want a remake of Predator. If he were to continue the story I think that would be fine. Why does everything have to be re-made these days??? Hire some real writers and come up with something new and original.

I personally haven't seen any of his Kid-oriented movies - not my thing - but Loved SIN CITY, PLANET TERROR was cheesy cornball over-the-top on Purpose FUN/loved it also, "MACHETE" should be very cool (we all hope!), and his El Mariachi trilogy was pretty good, but the last one was not that great really. Not sure about him tackling this franchise. Like many hear said, they've done 2 AVP movies, both of which (IMO) were not that great. I'm not sure why they're either Not continuing that logical progression, or why they are letting him re-do/remake or re-imagine a New version of an iconic film like PREDATOR.
To be fair, I've never really been against any remakes and don't see why people are so against them. If it bothers you don't watch them and just watch the original. Heck, if the studios decided they wanted to release remakes of This is Spinal Tap, Full Metal Jacket, Dog Day Afternoon, Dirty Dozen, heck even The Godfather, I wouldn't mind. It's not going to stop the other ones from ever being in existence, and it may turn younger people onto the older movies. I hadn't seen Inglorious Bastards before but because I knew it was the starting base for Inglourious Basterds, I checked it out and loved it. I do have Predator on my to watch list, in fact it's in the top 10 of my Blockbuster queue, but no movie is above being remade for a younger audience, I mean people have been passing on stories from generation to generation.

I don't think they'd make the same 'grindhouse' mistake again.

If he is that great have him re-make 2001. That would be a true test of how great he is.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Perfect manly made mans movie, that sucks. R.I.P. is great though. Sin City is 5 star and Planet Terror is fantastic.

I think Jason Statham should be the lead male human actor in this movie.

Robert Rodriguez NOT Directing or writing this. He's just producing.

Quote:
Yesterday we told you that Robert Rodriguez had announced that he was officially developing a Predator reboot for 20th Century Fox titled Predators. Well, apparently the project is almost ready to go because Fox has already announced a July 7th 2010 release date, according to ERC. Also, apparently the filmmaker will NOT be writing or directing the movie. He will be producing the project, which he hopes will shoot at his Austin-based studio.

The film will play 5 days after M Night Shyamalan’s Avatar live-action big screen adaptation The Last Airbender hits theaters. The Steve Carell/Jason Segel comedy Despicable Me is due to hit theaters 2 days later. Predators is expected to follow a team of commandos who must face a mysterious race of vicious monsters. That’s right, multiple Predators… not just one.

Rodriguez has said that he will go into production in the action movie Machete, based on the mock trailer in Grindhouse, in June, co-directing with Ethan Maniquis. Next up, After that, Rodriguez is scheduled to have the sci-fi action film Nerverackers in theaters for a April 15th 2010 release date. As I said above, Rodriguez will not be directing Predators, but he is still expected to be very hands on with the project and I’m not sure where he is going to find time.

Who knows. I wouldn't mind another double feature. I loved Grindhouse when I saw it in theaters.

you know a reboot doesn't exactly mean a remake right? It will most likely play off of 2 somehow...

Personally I think this is awesome...Robert Rodriguez is the man...

reboot is far different from a remake and for my money, robert rodriguez is one of the most entertaining directors out there. not the best per se, not even a favorite of mine, but I always have fun with his movies.

not counting spy kids but hey, if it wasn't for that we might not have gotten Once Up[on A Time In Mexico or Sin City.

I'm looking forward to it. It won't affect my enjoyment of predator, and it shouldn't since it's an entirely different movie.

edit - that press release is a bummer both because he's not so directly involved (although it's awesome that he is getting into producing if he hasn't before) but also because even a year and a half from now we're still going to be inundated with steve carrell and jason segal comedies.

I agree, there is no need to remake predator. I'd like to see and AVP3 set in the future (in space, or some distant planet). But then again I liked AVP Requiem (though I hate the first AVP).
