Thumbs up

John Carpenter's version of The Thing is the best all-around remake in that list.

I think you forgot to include Rob Zombie's version of Halloween. While it wasn't a disrespectful mockery of the original (compared to the films listed below), the only part I enjoyed was Michael Myers as a kid.

On the other hand: The Blob, The Omen, The Amityville Horror, War of the Worlds, Planet Of The Apes & The Day The Earth Stood Still are some of the worst remakes Hollywood has put out.

funny how we can agree and disagree so strongly!!

Are you saying that THE BLOB and AMITYVILLE HORROR remakes are inferior to their originals???? If so, it's your opinion but you are in the minority (especially with the very well received BLOB remake)

nope i didnt forget to add rob zombies Halloween, because rob zombie doesn't consider it a remake... i believe he said that in an interview... The Blob and War of the Worlds are worthy remakes, i would have to disagree with you.. i didn't like any of the amityvill horrors, and the remake of the Omen was awful i will agree with you their... never saw planet of the apes or the day the earth stood still so i can't comment... and i can't believe somebody actually voted for the bad news bears remake being better then the original... the original was and is a classic...

lol Oh come on, "the well received Blob remake"??? It was such token 80's cheese. I was on The Amityville Horror set & after meeting Ryan Reynolds, I just can't stand the guy and that particular movie.

Planet Of The Apes: Tim Roth (General Thade) was a great villain and the hilarious Charlton Heston cameo are the only 2 reasons to watch it. I've already commented about The Day The Earth Stood Still in another thread, so I'll refrain from that here, as I don't want to get a headache.

But hey, who knows? You might like those films.

I voted for The Thing but I still liked The Amityville Horror. Movies about houses possessed by demons are the shizznit.

The Blob from the '80s is one of my favorite movies growing up. I mean it has Shawnee Smith and Kevon Dillon.

I voted for The Thing because it has become such a huge classic in it's own right, more popular then the original in fact. I also enjoyed Peter Jackson's version of King Kong and the remake of The Hills Have Eyes as well as a few others on that list.

IMO The Pink Panther remake was horrible and an insult to Blake Edwards and Peter Sellers and should not have been included.

Sorry, but I don't care what Rob Zombie says it's still a remake even if he wants to call it a re-imaging. It still has the same characters and the same basic plot. Just because he wanted to add a back story to Michael Myers and turn him from a middle class kid who was just crazy into a white trash hooligan who was abused by his step father in order to gain some sort of sympathy for the serial killer doesn't make it any less of a remake, but thanks for not putting it on the list because it wasn't any good anyway. I do agree that The Blob and War of the Worlds were decent remakes and while I like the first Amityville Horror when I was a kid I try watching it now and it's just as bad as the remake and the sequels.

both these were really bad, but the remake was soo bad, i just don't know what goes through these actors minds when they read these scripts. money or not i would be like F this you can't pay me enough to embarrass myself in this movie... but im also lying to myself cuz i would embarrass my self for millions i suppose and im such a big fan of the original Halloween i do not know how you can remake that... thats like remaking the Godfather or Jaws... it just can't be done in my eyes!!!

I agree and the only things these 2 movies have in common or the title and the fact they take place at a Senior Prom for high school students.

It just came in from Blockbuster.com haven't watched it yet. I grew up with the classic Jean Claude films like- Kickboxer, Bloodsport, Lionheart and Universal Soldier. That last JC movie I ever watched was Sudden Death.

About April Fool's Day remake dont watch it. It really felt like another Wild Things sequel. I only gave it a chance b/c of Scout Taylor Compton from RZ Halloween.
