I'd be happy just to get fresh transfers for the first two movies in the UE.

Oh, and some decent extras on TDK as well.

So hopefully there's a place where they slide the regular blu-ray and slip in under the stand.
They could easily fit 4 or 5 discs in there(DC could be just a code), on an elongated spindle. Just like: Tron Legacy Boxed set, Terminator Skull, Lion King trilogy...and even the TDK Batpod had both discs on single spindles, but if more were needed they could've stacked them in there.

According to the press release: "Also available will be the free The Dark Knight Rises app for IOS 5.0 or higher compatible devices including iPhone and iPad, and Samsung Galaxy devices including S2, S3, Note, Nexus and Tab (operating system requirements vary by device). Building upon the already available "TDKR: Gotham City's Most Wanted" app, The Dark Knight Rises app will be updated in two phases. The first update, which will be available in late October, will include several interactive activities such as a photo application that will allow users to put themselves into a Tumbler, a video application that will allow users to insert a Tumbler into their personal videos, and more. The second update, which will be available on December 4, will integrate second screen functionality into the app. It will allow users to sync compatible mobile devices with the Blu-ray disc via BD-Live enabled Blu-ray players connected to the same Local Area Network to access exclusive bonus content. The bonus content will include film location information, Gotham City maps, film trivia, photo galleries and "making of" featurettes. In addition, the second screen app controls playback of the film on your TV via Blu-ray player. "The Dark Knight Rises" app will be available through the iTunes store and Google Play."

So there is no focus points on the movie site so NO extras on the movie disc

All these features is on the bonus disc correct?

And what about IMAX like TDK ?

I would get that cool mask set but I know it won't come with an actual bluray case.

More than likely, like the previous disc, those 17 featurettes make up a long documentary like Gotham Uncovered or can be played while watching the film. So, they probably are focus points.

The Journey of Bruce Wayne and the Batmobile documentaries will be on the second disc with the trailers and art galleries.

why do they need short features like that on 1 bonus disc alone?

so these 17 making of features as you say are really a big disappointment then because if they are focus points they are not long at all and this wouldn't even be 1 hour long maybe even only 30 min

It may be wishful thinking but it seems like Warners is letting us know that the PQ (especially the 35mm) will not suffer as TDK's 35mm scenes did.

Hopefully, it also means that this upcoming box set will have a proper presentation on The Dark Knight. If that's the case, I will probably forego the individual release of Rises and get the 2013 box set without the book (I already have it).

It won't. My bet? Anniversary edition of the trilogy when we see new transfers for Begins and Knight.

This is WB. Think upon the lines of Gone with the Wind and the Wizard of Oz. Every five years it seems, on an anniversary, we get new editions of those films.

WB is going to milk Potter and Nolan's Batman in the same manner over the coming decades. Be prepared for it.

what makes you think this is focus point. It does not say anything about that

Ending the Knight: A comprehensive look

does not sound like focus points to me so i hope you are wrong and it is a long documentary that spans for about 2 hours split up

Also 2 features on 1 bonus disc alone does not make sense

Gotham Uncovered was described as a comprehensive look at the making of the Dark Knight, which it was, when you watched it as one, hour long documentary. That one was focus points as well.

This just seems to be the same thing, just more focus points than were on the Knight BD.

Not exactly unprecedented, though. I fear we may never get a proper release for these movies. Nolan seems to be blocking commentaries, deleted scenes, etc from making the cut. Somebody should tell him the four commentaries and 7+ hours of documentary materials hasn't "ruined the magic" of any of the LOTR films.

actually it did say Goham Uncovered : Creation of a scene and it reads disc 1 with focus points

So i am still hoping that "Ending the Knight" is a long making of feature running for about 2 hours just split like Prometheus and Spider-Man

Would be nice for a commertery and deleted footage. At the end of the day it's just a film there's nothing magical about it just people standing on front of a camera acting and some of us would like to see how it was made. His momento dvd was 3 disc's full of extras. Maybe Nolan is saving it up for a huge trilogy box set.

It probably won't. Ending the Knight will be on the first disc with film and you'll have the option to watch it with the film or as a long form documentary by itself.

Bank on it....

We'll be getting the shifting aspect ratios. For the IMAX prints, the 35mm footage was blown up, DNR'd and sharpened. The Dark Knight's BD suffers because they exclusively used the IMAX prints. IMAX footage looks great while the 35mm stuff looks DNRd and edge enhanced. The note in the press release seems to be saying they'll be using the 35mm footage from the non-DNR'd 35mm prints.
