Why did Loki give up after being beaten by the Hulk? He had plenty of time to recover, or use his powers.

I am sure we could do the why game with every piece of entertainment.

He uses his powers often when he fights and they don’t work in the TVA. Also, those batons the TVA carry are nothing to sneeze at. Lastly, B-15 is pure awesomeness.

Is anyone else struggling to get through this? I am finding now that they're into all this multiverse stuff my interest is pretty much zero. I completely understand that this stuff is basically comics 101, but that's also why I never followed comics.

No, but I am not the type of person that forces myself to watch or read things. If it is not working for me I go onto something else. Way to much other things to try.

Here is my guess as to who the villain is.

Loki from the main timeline. Loki tricked Thanos into killing him.

I find it has gotten more and more fascinating as the layers of deception are revealed

He gave up when his army was gone, and he was surrounded by the Avengers.

I'm not digging deep here. This is obvious, surface-level stuff. Fans supposedly love the strong continuity of the MCU, but apparently don't care when it is flagrantly broken.

I'm not talking about his powers. Physically, he can hang with Thor. He was getting the best of Cap. And when Hulk smashed, the concrete, not Loki, broke.

I don't care if that baton was a lightsaber. Loki snatched Hawkeye's arrow out of the air. She should never have been able to land a hit.

I know I'm very late to the party but...

Watched the first 5 episodes.

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?????????

I thought time travel created ramifications and time variants. Right?
So what about all those different, vastly different LOKIS? Alternate dimensions?
It's totally out of the original concept.
Please, could someone explain me what's going on? Is the TVA a multidimensional Police????? So it's not about time travel at all, not the way we think about it.

I don't think that's true at all.

He was using his powers when he was fighting Cap, and he had the Mind stone. Of course he wanted to lose that fight though. His plan was to get captured, so it doesn't really matter.

True. You have a point. I'd say this moment in Avengers is the one that's out of place, not the Loki series. His bones do break, Thanos showed us that, and he didn't seem to be straining much to do it. Thanos had to exert himself more to fight Hulk. None of it is perfect I suppose.

I believe this was his powers as well, but even if it wasn't, when B-15 hit him and slowed him down, she caught him off guard. He thought she was just a human with a stick. After the collar was on, nothing else mattered.

Maybe Asgard is super high gravity....
(or has a red sun)
Someone with the fortitude and strength of Thor would wipe the floor with 50 TVA agents. Of course, this negates the entire series, so his bad-assery was totally forgotten about.

Time travel/multiverse are the same thing here.

[Show spoiler]
  • Richard E Grant is what "Prime" Loki would look like when he's old if Thanos didn't kill him
  • Kid Loki is what "Prime" Loki looked like as a child, although in that timeline he killed Thor.
  • Boastful Loki is similar to "Prime" Loki but he successfully beat The Avengers and gathered all of the Infinity Stones. Why is he black? Who knows. Loki can change his appearance so maybe he chose that form. Maybe he did something with the stones upon completion that changed his race for one reason or another. Perhaps he was born this way in a timeline where Odin had different lineage (although you have to wonder how that timeline was allowed to continue for thousands of years with Odin being a different race to the "main timeline")
  • Alligator Loki is either "prime" Loki who was turned into an Alligator at some point, or was always an alligator. Perhaps Odin found an alligator with the Frost Giants instead of a baby. Maybe it wasn't Frost Giants Odin fought in that timeline, but a race of reptile people?

Each Loki is from a different timeline, and the small differences in those timelines grow to make a multiverse of huge differences. Infinite possibilities mean infinite choices.

So in your view, Loki is just a regular guy, and whenever he performs any kind of physical feat, even fisticuffs with Thor or Cap, he's actually using "powers." That simply does not gel with what we've seen previously.

No, I didn't say that. Is he stronger than a human? Definitely. But using tricks and illusions during a fight is very much what he does. He certainly doesn't have the strength of Thor. He's definitely not invulnerable, and I question why he wasn't injured more from Hulk's thrashing, but it's not really a big deal.

To get Loki to the TVA, Hunter B-15 caught him off guard, because he didn't appreciate exactly who they were. They got the collar on him and took him to a place where his powers do not work and that's simply it.

It's even said in the show that it isn't worth resisting because they'll just find him and bring him back again, so Loki submits.
I'm sure the TVA has taken down variants more powerful than Loki. It doesn't appear to be their first rodeo.

Remember too that Thor was subdued by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents when Odin took his powers.

This.

I have loved this so far, and if the last episode maintains the quality of the rest of it it’ll easily be my favourite MCU show, and I’ll rank it higher than some of the movies.
