Is this the one I am looking for? I know the local used store has a whole rack of Halloween releases LOL, I'm sure I can find it.
That's the one.

That's the one. It's funny to hear JC say it's "kinda sad" they keep making sequels (this was recorded a long time ago).

This latest UHD. By far. It’s even better than the Criterion LD (except for sound). And the UHD is truer to 35mm prints. I have the LD in my possession and have played it many times.

I say it's rather amusing that this new 4k and 2-5 4k's a lot of hype going on saying great, but yet still no new information on universal monsters 4k which coming up pretty soon.

so now I'm a thinking maybe the universal monsters 4k won't be good and perhaps I should try to get I guess new Halloween 4k and 2-5 instead not sure what to do

If it's the 1080p blu-ray I'd be really worried about this highlight crush

Can anyone watching on a calibrated set confirm whether this is truly an issue or not? Someone pointed out a similar issue with the Halloween 4 screencap comparisons in that thread.

Thanks. I don’t have the means to rip the disk myself, so I’ll wait to find one out there and sync the ld audio and watch it that way to see what the ruckus is about.

Isn’t the 1994 Criterion Commentary on the new Scream release as well as the previous Scream Coll Edition?

Or is there another Carpenter / Hill / Curtis commentary aside from the Criterion?

(I’m aware of the Carpenter / Curtis only commentary.

Sounds good! I don’t like the saturation of the 2007 disc. Looks very unnatural to me. The 2013 release might be a bit dull but at least it looks real. This new release sounds like it’s better with “a notch more saturation.”

The Carpenter/Hill/Curtis commentary hasn't been on a BD since the 2007 release. It's the same one from the Criterion LD. It was also on the Divimax DVD.

It was in the Deluxe Limited Edition Scream Box Set
Disc 2 of Halloween but I guess it was only included in the box set only.

That's just the same 2007 disc that's still readily available separate from the box set.

The Carpenter/Curtis/Hill 1994 Criterion commentary is not on this release at all.

- I think both are interesting for historical purposes/curiosity sake, but aren't something I think actually adds to the film. Pleasence isn't his strongest in the additional scenes - and they really slow things down, IMO. Part of the beauty of the original cut is the pacing, and it's just not something that needs to be messed with.

Very glad to have seen them - but I'm all set with the regular cut of the film in glorious 4K going forward.
The broadcast 1981 cut also uses alternate takes: Laurie’s discovery of the dead lovers and telling the two kids to get the police (the last one, I believe, was used for the Halloween II reprise).

The extended version is a hybrid cut: R-rated theatrical cut with the television scenes dropped in. No alternate takes.

I just got that but I didn’t get my post updated fast enuff haha

Wow really thought it was on the new release. I guess I’m holding onto that Halloween Box Set even after the rest of the series is released to 4K (I have no need for the R Zombie films.)

Haven’t checked out the broadcast television cut, but how cool would it be if it featured commercial break ads?
