Doesn't make Alice in Wonderland great, I compare the two because they both very colourful and vibrant, just one has bigger names attached and is a huge success

well if you throw Tim Burton and Johnny Depp's name out there thats $100M right there. The movie title itself gives you another $100M. Big 3D movie after Avatar gives you another $100M. Thats just me though. The movie sucked.

Isn't that a bit of a paradox?

Well the UK was a bit crazy on a few movies for a while, cutting movies to shreds just because they had weapons in them, with no regards to the movies plot or story.

I am watching The Stuntman with Peter O"Toole and Steven Railsback on TCM. I find it overlong and boring. I have also seen O"Toole in Lawrence Of Arabia and My Favorite Year and he always seem to play egotistical asses. So why is he considered an excellent actor? He is a capable actor but not great.

Oh yeah, I know what you mean. I think movies like "Pineapple Express" had the same effect on me.

[Show spoiler]really did or didn't go to Oz. She's knocked in the head, falls to the bed, and the tornado is right there at the house: perfectly ambiguous circumstances for the "did she or didn't she scenario"?
. Another thing struck me: Toto is one heck of a well-trained dog! Obviously his trainer was behind the camera all the time, but doing things like holding out his paw or digging under a door then running away...just incredible training.
-most of all, I love how the film message is just as applicable to adults as kids (dorothy's last line back home, and her line in Oz about looking no further than her own backyard). it all speaks for itself and is timeless.

PQ: 5/5 (I never saw the error people talk about at the end. This is one of the best transfers I've ever seen, for the age of the source. Oz looks like it was filmed in 2005!)

AQ: 4/5

Minority Report.”

Spielberg and PKD-based sci-fi, it’s a darn-near perfect mix!

This film has a smashing concept, a fantastic story filled with suspense, thrills, action, and even a smidgeon of comedy. Characters are strong all around (and by extension, the performances are good). The environment is very imaginative and well-realized (and by extension, the production value is excellent). Photography is awesome.

At its core though, it’s an excellent piece of sci-fi that’s loaded with all kinds of interesting concepts, in terms of technology, society, politics, and I think on a deeper level religion. And on a deeper metaphysical level yet,
[Show spoiler]the film goes on to suggest that all humans have free will and the future is not predetermined
. The film has a number of references and motifs that I always find interesting (so much concerning eyeballs and seeing…).

I know one of you guys brought up a little plot hole
[Show spoiler]that Tom Cruise’s character shouldn’t have been able to use his old eyeball to access the precog chamber. I think it’s still a pretty minor thing (one could argue that either somebody dropped the ball, or since Precrime was such a new experimental department nobody bothered to create a protocol to revoke his access/clearance. Personally, I always figured the retinal scan technology was hardwired and couldn’t be altered or something…I guess that’s a dumb excuse though). But I ultimately do see what y’all mean, and will agree that realistically he should have gotten a red light and arrested on the spot.
I still don’t let it bother me much.

5/5 (entertainment: 5/5, story: 4.5/5, film: 5/5, i/e: 4/5)

Video quality looks the sharpest I’ve ever seen it; detail is incredible, and color and contrast are faithfully reproduced. Some parts show a bit of film noise and grain, but I’m sure it’s either intentional or a natural part of the transfer. Sound quality is never overbearing, but still sounds nice.

PQ: 4.5/5, AQ: 4.5/5

Watching the extras now, which are cool…I never realized that they’ve invented the hand-video control scheme for real!!

Extras: 4.5/5
