I used the BB website, a store I will be closed to this weekend showed a few copies left of each 1 and 2 in stock, placed the order, only to receive a cancellation notice an hour later. Switched to a different store as a back-up that had both and got the order ready for pick-up. Most of the stores in my area are either out or show one or two copies left.

Not really though that would've been great. It could've at least looked as good as the DVD transfer of the TV cut of Halloween II though which was released on disc in 2012.

I've never sat through (or even seen) the actual broadcast TV version of Halloween and tbh, that's one of the extras I'm most excited to check out.

Currently watching the broadcast television cut and it’s nostalgic as all hell. Really takes me back to my younger days when this would marathon play on Halloween day. I’d have it on in the background while I sorted through the nights collection of candy.

So... is the UHD mono better than that tinny crap from the Blu-ray or not?

As usual on this forum it's hard to get concrete information amid all the drivel.

I believe some have said it sounds like it was boosted a bit and maybe normalized, so it supposedly sounds somewhat better, but still not anywhere near as good as the LD mono.

I was in FYE earlier today and to my surprise Halloween and Return of Michael Myers were on the shelf. I picked up the first one and tried buying it but when it rang up, the register prevented the cashier from selling it to me.
Both sets look nice.

Yes, generally it is the case for most films with slipcovers, I believe its the first pressing and then later on they nix the slipcover.

Which channel played marathons of it?

I'm very curious how this compares to Lionsgate's 4K master

oh and btw does anyone know if this is the same mono track that was on their old set or is it different?

Maybe a little. But its not even close to the track on the Criterion LD, which has tons of bass and sounds massive. I own both releases.

I grabbed this up at Best Buy after everyone made it known that they had released it early (wasn't on the shelves when I went in there this morning). I immediately did some still comparisons between the 1080p discs from 2021 and the 35th Anniversary Edition, and there is a definite improvement in brightness and contrast. Colors are less monotone shifting it away from the green palette of the 35th Anniversary transfer, and showing more natural colors and skin tones in the few shots I compared. I'll be watching the UHD in a few days, but I figured picking it up at Best Buy was better than waiting on Amazon to deliver it in a week or more.

I was surprised at the very sturdy slipcase on this. I don't know how much I really like the thick bulky case as it'll suck up extra space on my shelves. I'll probably store it away.

I believe AMC as they would air all the sequels back to back. That’s how I remember watching most of the Halloween movies.

Is the mono on the TV cut filtered or unfiltered? I’d imagine unfiltered since the filtered one wasn’t made until the mid-late 90s.

My order of this and Halloween III shipped out from Bull Moose earlier today, so presumably others who ordered from them should get their copies shipped soon as well.

Ugh. Slight disappointment. Just noticed I have a few hardened spots of glue on the slipcase. Not sure how that happened? But… sigh. Check your cases for any sticky residue that is caught early on and can be removed unlike mine.

Recycle it. It’s the right thing to do.
