I just posted this in the slip cover thread, but since this thread deals a lot with customizing, I figured I'd post it here to incase anyone who frequents this thread (but doesn't typically go into the slip cover thread) has any advice...
I have sort of a strange question, but if anyone has any helpful advice, I would appreciate it. I picked up the Pirates 4 3D Blu-Ray set today, and I want to customize the spine of the slipcover, if possible, to make it match up better with the first 3 movies (I have the original BD releases of the first 3 movies, before they were reissued in combo packs). Basically I want to find some kind of sticky label paper that I can print on, cut to the right size, and put over the spine. HOWEVER (and this part is VERY important), I want something that would peel back off fairly easily should I ever decide to remove it. Sort of like many of the stickers that come on the slip covers currently do (the ideal ones that peel off easily and don't leave any residue behind). If anyone knows of any such labels that would do the trick, please let me know. |

Don't like this one nearly as much as your others. They were just photos or screenshots from the movie that worked really well as a minimal cover. This one is a pretty poor PS job that I feel just doesn't work. Try to do the same as you did for the others, find a nice screenshot from the film with a lot of open space rather than just slap cutouts of a character and some zombies poorly on a background.

Thanks; I agree that the original poster image has become nearly synonymous with the film itself. Now, I'm working on the back panel, but most of it's been with the text aspects. Could someone please do some caps from the Blu-Ray, of these two shots? I'd love to use them for the cover.

The circle is now complete. If any of you remember these were the first ever Blu-Ray customs I ever made. Now they're updated to reflect the specs of the actual releases.
Trilogy 3-disc version to come using the same concept. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() These are conversions of the beautiful VHS special edition case from 1993. There were just some small adjustments to be made to fit the emblems of the later films. My new scanner has a very narrow depth-of-field, so scanning the dimensional cover wasn't totally successful. The out-of-focus bits lose some detail if you look closely, but I masked it with some Photoshop-generated noise. I have a Jurassic Park font on my system, but unfortunately it doesn't match the title treatment precisely. I still think it was close enough to give it a pass. I tried varying the shades of grey subtly across the covers, but they may end up looking not so subtle, or even identical, when printed. I'd love to hear from some real-world users of these. Distributed by PM as always. |

Awesome JP covers!
![]() ![]() Sending a PM for these! This will be my first test on printing up a cover using the "new" printer that I just hooked up recently (I got it last year for free when my wife and I bought our new computer... we just never hooked it up before since we were using our old printer that we were more familiar with... but it recently died). Hopefully it doesn't suck. |

I just have to share this cover with everyone, Imrahil2001 made this custom cover for my Conan The Barbarian Theatrical reconstruction BD I am working on, and I think it looks GREAT! I wanted the theatrical feel of the old DVD release, I think he captured it well, what do you guys think?
![]() I also want to Thank The Lizard King for helping me on this project, as well as Imrahil2001 for the cover. Last edited by vidjunkie; 10-20-2011 at 08:15 PM. |
