You don't have to buy directly from Pioneer. Pioneer does not allow the Elite lines to be sold on line though. You can still go in any authorized dealer's store and buy one and have the full warranty. BB Magnolia stores are a good example. They don't offer the option to buy them online, but they carry them in the store. Some dealers skirt around this by not selling them online but taking phone orders. This is what 6th Ave Electronics does.

This is exactly how I bought my SC-05 from 6th Ave...so there are ways around it, with a full warranty too.

I have felt that my Polk CS10 center lacks the clarity and power that I would like. There are simply too many times I feel the volume needs to be turned up a notch to get the detail I want. I even have my center channel resting on some Auralex SpeakerDudes for added isolation from the blu-ray player underneath it. All speakers have been calibrated with MCACC Advanced EQ and with my SPL meter. I have an issue with no back wall in my HT, so no reflections. I feel this lack of a back wall is the biggest problem I have, even more so than the CS10. Anyway, in knowing this, do you guys know of any tweaks to the Elites that can enhance a center channel's performance besides increasing the channel level or getting a better speaker?

I'm considering an Emotiva 3 channel for $599

I know I don't have the same receiver, but I feel the same way. I was going to upgrade to the Pioneer SC-27, but I feel as though the introduction of HDMI v1.4 is coming soon, so I'll wait. Thus, the need for adding an amp should fix the problem.

Fors, I got it from an ebay seller by the name of anoldguyof43. I admit the listing seems a slight bit sketchy, but he has perfect, glowing feedback. Plus the price couldn't be passed up: $1045, shipped. I'll be sure to let y'all know how everything turns out.

Finally, I can have lossless audio! i plan on going the whole 9 yards, with an SPL meter and that Blu-ray calibration disc I just ordered.

And maybe a second PA-120 sub. We'll see.
Sweet DEAL! I seen that on Ebay and thats the best price out there for the SC25. Let me know how it all turns out. I plan on getting a new ELITE...once I find a buyer for the 1 I have the SC-25 will be the 1st upgrade of the year for me.

That may not be a bad idea. I know distance is important with phase control, and for all I know, there could be a cancellation issue going on with my fronts. That is worth a try.... and it is a nice, easy tweak I can test it out on....thanks cj!

Very cool.......if you never had lossless audio before, you are in for a BIG treat. Besides lossless audio, the Pioneer's ICE amps will further enhance the sound that you are not used to. I don't know what speakers you have, but in some degree, they should open up in a way you have never heard them before. Congrats, and a nice score if it all goes well.

I don't see much of a difference to justify the cost between 25 and a 27...

Yeah at one point a while back he had some on there for $995 shipped, but I didn't quite have the funds for it yet. Oh well, I didn't pay much more than that. I'll also sell my old receiver and my older speakers to my sister(giving them a good deal, of course) so that will offset the cost of the SC-25, at least a little. I'll be sure to let everyone know how it turns out!

Thanks. This will be the first time I've had, or even heard, HD home theater audio. I can't wait! My speakers are the Premier Acoustic 6F speaker set, to match my PA-120 sub. They're rated to 200 watts at 8 ohms. My current receiver spits out only 90 watts per channel, and that's probably not all channels driven. My sound is pretty good now, but the Elite will probably give me TWICE the power!
I checked the tracking info and it's saying delivery on monday. Woo!!

I'd say that's a good deal. It's cheaper than just about anywhere I've seen. Hell, most places that'd be a good deal for a SC-25, let alone a 27.

Phase control should help with clarity and maintain the dpeth of the bass without cancellations occuring. You probably have yours on, as it is the "default" setting in the receiver.

By the way guys, I did have this on already since it is the default, and tried it with full band phase control on and without it at all....no changes noted in clarity or depth in the dialog. My room just s*cks when it comes to dialog.....
