No taste and boringly repetitive. That's you, that is.

One doesn't have to have their head up their backside in order to debate the merits of film intelligently and accurately. Although I can see the advantage of adopting such a position in talking to the likes of you.

And for my 2 cents, I thought this movie was atrocious in many ways. It's not the worst in the series (TCM:TNG is literally as low as you can get), but it's pretty damn awful in terms of plot holes, character motivation, dialogue, and acting.
Exactly. While there are people that enjoy this film (myself to an extent), no one can certainly call this a good well-made film. Like you said there is poor acting, dialogue, character motivation and the gaping plot holes in this film that make this a bad movie.

Something I would like to know - and I suppose only a fan of the movie could answer this - regards a statement made by Gunnar Hansen who, on reading the script, said "You're going to do what with Leatherface? Then I thought, 'why didn't we think of that?'"

What is it that he's talking about?

probably just making him a sympathetic character, not to mention
[Show spoiler]kind of the hero at the end.

If that's true, Gunnar's lost the plot completely.

If you keep talking down to him, you are going to send him into a ubiquitous melancholy.

-------------------

Now, about Gunnar Hansen. If he wanted to make the 1974 movie something like this, then maybe he never should have been Leatherface. He was a good Leatherface, but he would have sent the entire series into a spiral of awfulness -- which happened after the first movie anyway.

It's like Roseanne Barr. The more she gained control over the show, the more she ruined it. The same can probably be said for Gunnar Hansen after those comments.

He was the best Leatherface. And no portrayal of the masked killer archetype has come close since his performance.

I don't know how much input he had into the original film in terms of the screenplay (I'm guessing next-to-none) so I was a bit perplexed when he said "Why didn't we think of that?"

Of course, I won't be able to watch him now without thinking of Roseanne Barr. Thanks for that

Just watched this and...............actually enjoyed it?

Don't get me wrong, it's still stupid as hell and the studio mandate to have it set in modern times to keep the production budget is so brain-dead even Leatherface would call it out.

But at the same time, I actually found it extremely enjoyable in a B-Movie way (with lines like "WELCOME TO TEXAS MUTHERFAQER", how can you not enjoy it like that?). Also, the aforementioned "Set in 90's/Modern Times" budget cut made it feel like the Universal Mummy films where it was set in the supposed 70s/80s but everything was still like the 40s. Though from what I've read, the original script would have been much better.

Besides, if people can enjoy 2021 for being a dumb ridiculous sequel, why not 3D?

(Also, a girl deciding to side with the bad guy group after having all her friends killed? That's basically the plot of Midsommar, LOL)

The US cut is 91 minutes long. France and the UK have a 92 minute cut, and Germany has a 95 minute cut.

Do you know what are the extra scenes in the German cut?
