Reading back through some old posts in this thread, it's funny how the different studios advertise blu-ray.

Sony should sell some of these with the mastered in 4K titles http://www.amazon.com/CSS-Inc-G-HDUL...sses+hd+vision

Default Total Recall 4K

I purchased my first copy of Total Recall last year on its release date, and I have one of the copies with the audio problem. To my knowledge, Sony has not recalled any of their copies from any retailers. I called Sony Directly yesterday, and felt a if I had gotten no closer to answering my questions, as none of their phone agents were properly educated on the product. I spoke with four different people on the phone, all different phone numbers. With the 4K release of Total Recall today, I was wondering if the disc still has these audio issues, or if it has been addressed, and corrected for the 4K version? Also, I was wondering if anyone has watched this yet, and can confirm wheter or not this 4K ttle is worth the upgrade videowise as well. Does anyone have any specs on this? Sound off............

I'm all for them doing proper 4K remasters of films from the original negative. Really, at least all major catalog titles should always get this treatment (<cough> Universal <cough>).

I guess the titles like Amazing Spider-Man and Taxi Driver are about the 4K upscaling, if that really works. Supposedly, the results on Ghostbusters are disastrous though.

Where did you see it upscaled to a 4K TV?

Can you post a link? I put in the ASIN and it doesn't have any results.

I read a few things in this forum and a couple others. No official review that I have seen yet, but supposedly the audio issue has been fixed. Also, it is one disc and only includes the theatrical version not the EE.

They should also describe when the tools were made and when the scan was done. Considering that home video isn't film, they really ought to surround the studio's opening and end credits with the names of the labs and people digitalizing the film.

With this lack of transparency we currently have, we often get Blu-rays authored from Masters produced for DVD, don't we?

It may not be a problem with Blu-rays of new releases as much as it's a problem with Blu-ray releases of older movies, but we would all benefit from full disclosure and complete transparency.
I agree completely. Despite the fact that Sony isn't all that into catalog anymore, other studios may have to come up with competition for these

Sony is responsible for Lawrence of Arabia, used by you as an example of how to get it right...

Other studios are already offering high-quality transfers with a lot of Bonus Features and cheaper prices than Sony's "SuperBit Part II" gimmick.

I'm in the UK. If I order it from Canada their cheapest shipping option arrives in 48 hours so I'd have it in a few days.

It's says (.ca) it's no longer available when I search for Ghostbusters 4K.

As well as the original Taxi Driver, already sourced from a 4K master, Guns of Navarone, Kwai, Close Encounters, etc... They do better than most when it comes to catalog special editions. So they "get it right" quite a lot.

Anyone know why no reviews of any of these titles are up on any site?

I'd really like to know if the transfers look better.

I ordered Ghostbusters from Amazon but it hasn't gotten here yet.

Also would like to get Spider-Man if it's a better transfer than the one in the trilogy set.

I would also consider 3 more if I could at least see a review on them.

Must be a pretty small haystack and a lot of pretty big needles.

It's obvious that Sony is hiding these from reviewers for as long as possible. They want to make a quick buck off of people who are too impatient to wait for reviews.

You must be looking for a straw of hay in a stack of needles.

Have you seen any of the discs first hand? Why are you speaking authoritatively on the subject?

I've only had Ghostbusters in for about 5 minutes but the difference is obvious and stark. The color palette is vibrant and incredible. The facial shots of Venkman in his first scene are an extremely apparent upgrade. I thought it'd be better but my expectations are surpassed. Those that commented in the Ghostbusters thread about the upgrade seem to be spot on.

The Amazing Spider-Man, Total Recall, The Other Guys, The Karate Kid, Battle: Los Angeles, and Angels & Demons are recent movies. Unless Sony completely botched their previous Blu-ray releases (or intentionally sabotaged them), these new discs will not look much different.

Ghostbusters was in dire need of restoration in the first place. Taxi Driver was already restored for the DigiPak release.
