Same. In fact I found part 3 to be the most riveting Evangelion thing since EoE. I think saying "most don't like the Rebuilds" is reaching also.

I would say that I prefer the TV series but I certainly dont dislike the rebuild movies. Some of the fights are pretty epic.

I never really know what the whole fan base thinks. Last I heard/saw, people didn’t like the Rebuilds. I can’t back it up, but that’s the impression I got.

No better place than the Evangelion thread though, if you have opinions about the Rebuilds vs. Series, feel free to express them. This thread was never purely dedicated to a US Blu-Ray release.

I like the rebuilds, but overall I prefer the series.

Either way, I just hope this means a solid blu-ray release. Personal feelings aside, accessibility and preservation is never a bad thing for important anime.

Looking forward to a BD release if there will be one. I only watched the TV series so far, and wasn't very fond of it, except for the final two episodes which I thought were brilliant. But I'd like to rewatch it once in HD and then watch the movies.

I think that what you’re smelling is some people not liking the third one.

For the record, I consider Evangelion TV my favourite work of fiction. I also love all three movies.

I was okay with 1.11, not a fan of 2.22, and adored 3.33. I'm really weird according to most of the fanbase as a result.

The original series and End of Eva are my absolute faves and I'm super stoked about the Netflix announcement.

The TV series is the ultimate shonen anime with the nerd relatable Shinji having to deal with his a-hole dad and all his relationships with women starting with his mom, and his three fantasy women.All within the backdrop of getting the ultimate nerd job of piloting a giant mecha and saving the world. You need the entire show to fully flesh out these relationships (and the world saving story) thus why I am not a fan of the rebuilds. They reduce everyone to a merchandise-able trope (and don't even bother with the story just assuming you already know it) as evidenced by the addition of the completely redundant Mari, because they needed a megane girl to sell figures of
