Interesting - if you go to checkout from DD now they're charging shipping. Previously they weren't and this normally would have qualified for free shipping in the US. *THAT* might be why they cancelled all the orders. Of course as quickly as it reappeared it might go away again. I'm sticking with my order from Amazon.

Planning on watching this set later next month (assuming my copy arrives) but I've been really struggling with coming up on just how I am going to watch it. Originally I thought about going all-out and watching all of the audio options (save commentaries) but I realized that would be the equivalent to watching over 30 films which is not something I can do in a two-week time span anymore.
Last time I did a Gamera marathon it was with the Mill Creek Blu-rays and was all in Japanese. Considering the Japanese audio would be my default for all future watches, I think next month for my first spin with these discs, I will only watch the dubbed versions (including the UK techo track and redneck dub for the two Heisei films which I've never heard before). That's still like 20 movies, but I think I can manage it. |

I just put in a new order at blowitouttahere for 2x at ~$94 a piece. I am still keeping my Amazon order up though. Blowitouttahere, DD, and importCDs all have stock crossed over from Alliance Entertainment, who do their drop shipping, so it could have been an issue on the distribution end.

There is no such law that says online retailers must honor the lower price, unless it's in a physical advertised weekly advertisement. This is, more than likely, the reason why Best Buy did away with their weekly circulars. This is also why I stopped shopping at Best Buy. I used to go in there for impulse shopping for things like Blu-rays, hard drives, etc and I might go in there, from time to time. But, only for odd items. During the past 10 years, I've only purchased a 55" 4K TV and a Frigidaire mini-fridge from Best Buy. Mostly, I order from Amazon or visit Walmart or Big Lots. Far as all of these cancellations go, it's typical. If a retailer does pre-orders and finds out the "sale" price they offered is below their "sales threshold", they will cancel the order and relist it. This happens more frequently than you might think but simply never realized it before. Some retailers can just cancel your orders and never inform you that it was canceled. The problem that the retailer can find itself in is if you prepaid for the item at their "listed" sales price and then they cancel. If that's the case, a consumer could possibly have valid standing to sue and/or file a complaint with the appropriate state government agencies. I remember, quite a number of years ago, Target advertised a Blu-ray movie for a specific price. When I went into a local store asking for a copy of it, I was told they don't intend on getting any in and they offered the DVD version of the same movie (which I didn't want). It was a "bait and switch" scam that Target tried to do and I ended up filing a complaint with the State's Attorney General office. Don't know if Target was fined but they were lectured to about violating state law and Target sent a gift certificate to make up for it. Online retailers are able not to be held to "advertised prices" laws because retailer websites are not the same thing as a weekly circular advertisement. |

My Target copy shipped yesterday and my Best Buy copy shipped today. After using some Best Buy rewards, that copy only cost me $10.59 so probably will just return the Target copy. Ordered from two places to increase the chance of actually getting one

Those including myself that very recently preordered through amazon should be prepared to hear their sets won’t ship for weeks if not longer. I usually get charged and see tracking on Friday at the latest for a following Tuesday new release and as of now, all I see is “Shipping Date To Be Determined” which is typically a bad sign. |

I went to Fry's Electronics today and found this beauty in person. I almost hesitated on picking it up due to the chance of a possible sale at some point that would lower the price. Changed my mind and bought it. Now that I'm home and reading over this thread, I'm really grateful I went for it. It's absolutely amazing in person.
