I can’t wait to see impressions/reviews of seasons 2-7

Thinking of doing a rewatch again only in 4K though of course lol

Not really sure what people are expecting? If you've seen Season 1 & 8 in UHD you pretty much know what to expect. Season 2 & 3 will be an improvement on 1, and then 4 onwards will be an improvement again.

Don't set your expectations too high though. The vast majority of the original footage was shot quite stylised, which gave the series a distinctive look. It will definitely be an improvement on the standard blu-rays, but I wouldn't expect anything too revolutionary.

For me Blackwater is more about the audio experience, and even the standard 5.1 track on the standard blu-ray is phenomenal. The section with the drums as they sail up the bay makes the whole room bounce.

Cross-posting with the Steelbook thread. We were told the UK release of the steels was delayed, but my steels set has just been shipped from WBShop UK. Interested if anyone else is the same?

Yeah the express delievery (£3 or £4 i think). Says 1-2 days in the email.

I paid for delivery too (ordered late September), but still awaiting dispatch. Would be nice (and worth the earlier charge) if WBshop do ship it within the next few days. Not holding my breath though!

Mine showed up today. WBshop seem to get stuff to me either two days early or two weeks late.

I doubt it will I reckon S7+8 were the only ones done with 4KUHD in mind

Season 1 is quite lite on CGI isn't it compared to the middle years it will be interesting to compare each season anyways

None of them were done with 4K in mind. All shot and edited at 2K. From Season 4 some of it is shot at 6K on Epic Red Dragon, but ultimately it's still been processed through the 2K DI.

"Shot at 2K" does it a disservice and always will, they shot on Alexa from the start which is a beloved camera in the industry and baked in way more range than if it was shot on a pitiful portable picnic player.
