I am genuinely curious how many units were actually manufactured of this one. I am also surprised that BB didn't hold back any stock to be made available on release day (not that they have to), but that would not have been a bad idea.

After what has been happening lately, I pre-ordered The Batman steel without hesitation, just like the Spidey one back in December.
I have to pre-order The Batman for sure since it was quite popular and I think incel Joker's steelbook had a similar sell out fiasco when it came out. I want Turning Red but I feel that might stick around to be put on sale by summer.

As for how many units, who knows. I would say at least 25,000 for sure. I thought I saw that number somewhere.

Thanks, I’ll do that next time I need to order a steelbook. I forgot I could sell them to the members here.

This is what we get for not having No Way Home win any academy awards. This is on us. Sony is displeased.

Yeah. Or like if you're overseas, there's definitely a demand for U.S. steelbooks. I ran a group buy where I would pick up items for members overseas but I got super super busy and stopped. I've been asked to open it again but for now I stick to members who almost always ordered each month since it was easier to consolidate shipping. Whenever I order extra steelbooks (which I do to ensure no bubble mailers or dents) I always offer the extras to them first. I think Eternals was one where I ordered 3 and I had to return one to the store and the others went to me and a regular.

So yeah if you're overseas there might be "local" demand for them if you want to offload an extra since you won't be able to return the other one once it ships.

That's ridiculous, even by the standards of what get said on this forum. Sony placed the orders for this title long before the Oscars winners were announced. And with Oscars or without Oscars, it is still the most popular movie that has been released during the pandemic.

I think Allgood was kidding.

Sony is not that clever.

This is really frustrating. This is the first MCU Steel I missed out on. Before that it was the Halloween Kills SB. Seems to be crazy. But when I look on eBay and see all the Spider-Man steels, it makes me sad. I just don't know how to stop this, that everyone gets a fair shot. I hope they will re-release it eventually.

Heard Sony melted all the rest of the steelbooks because of our lack of efforts for voting. They'll in turn make even more Morbius steelbooks.

It will certainly be ironic if they overestimate demand for Morbius steelbooks

Remember when Thor Dark world sold out and when 4K became a new format all (most?) of the Marvel steelbooks were released in 4K.

Same thing with Mad Max Fury Road.

Life is unfair…very unfair let me count the ways.

Apparently you have to order at least 14 copies the split second it's available for pre-order or you're an idiot and out of luck. I guess just get used to paying twice as much on eBay from the Best Buy employees selling their 150 copies bought using their employee discounts.

I probably would do that (I sell on eBay some older or not wanted stuff) but do it for the members here. I’d happily pre order another Spider-Man steelbook but the one we can order from includes a hoodie and costs an extra 20 pounds.

I will say Best Buy had this steelbook up several times for pre-order, just sayin.

I was on the website each time too because it was posted in this thread but I just didn’t want to pay the $3.99 shipping and thought I’d be able to do in store pickup.

Guessed wrong

I actually decided to bite the bullet and pay the shipping and risk it getting damaged in shipping. You know because you can't trust BBY to package steelbooks correctly. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. Anyway, every time it was back up I tried to buy it. Each time when I went to pay it said it wasn't available. Whatever. I gave my money to Wal-Mart instead. I know, I know. I should have pre-ordered a dozen copies around Christmas time instead of buying my family gifts but I chose not to. Bleh.
