I can tell you right now that they aren't going to do anything about it. Read the Make Mine Music thread to see how many people complained about it and nothing changed.

Watched this last night. I loved the look of it. As previously mentioned by others, it's not overly processed and looks great throughout. Even though there is no mono audio, it didn't affect my enjoyment (though it should have been included). I just pray the rest of these classics fair as well in the future.

So much of this movie is silent that I wonder why they didn't add a bunch of sounds to moving objects if they were gonna remix it for surround anyway. Like the cat getting on the bed and Mother then pouring her tee in front of C., all silent. I would have made one track the original mono and one a WB-like surround revision mix. Mono on the old BD was a downmix? Lame.

No, the 2.0 on the new BD is a downmix.

Oh. Then I'm buying a really cheap used Diamond copy before I watch this. Had it, but only kept the core DTS, because I doubted high res was important at the time.

Looks like Cinderella isn't the only classic Disney film to hit 4k for this year. From The Digital Bits:

In terms of new release news today, we’ve learned from industry sources that Walt Disney’s original animated Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) is coming to 4K Ultra HD later in the year! Like Cinderella, we suspect that it will likely first be released on the Disney Movie Club as part of the studio’s 100th anniversary celebration, then it will go into wide retail release before the end of the year. We’ll post more information on this as it comes in, particularly if any kind of official news breaks from the studio.

I'll believe it when rdodolak posts it.

I agree, but it wouldn't surprise me. A DMC exclusive at the end of the year, and then a wide release in March when the remake is released.

Of course, I bought the 85th Anniversary Blu-Ray last year. Oh well, it was cheap, and the slip with original poster art will be nice to slip over the 4K.

DMC's customer support isn't going to be any help. They are just a store front, they have zero control over what goes on a disc. Contacting them about things like this is a waste of both your and their time and should be discouraged. The "marketing team" (whatever that even means. Likely some social media management) probably can't do much either.

You should be attempting to contact "Walt Disney Home Video", if there's even currently a way to reach them.

They tried "co-creating" new foley f/x with the audio for Mary Poppins, and that turned out to be an embarrassment. They still haven't included the 1982/1985 re-recording of Fantasia on any home video release after bad critical responses over altering history, much the same as the outcry over colorization, and the 50th anniversary re-release of Snow White, which lopped off the 4:3 frame (Snow White wasn't shot to protect it for a wide-screen future).

So, I'm going to say no. Let Cinderella be Cinderella, it doesn't need new sound f/x or discrete audio gimmicks.

Then they did it wrong with Mary Poppins. They can do it right with Cinderella. I don't see why it should be so difficult. Letting Cinderella be Cinderella would mean no 5.1 mix at all. I would be fine with that too.

Truthfully I think of the all the titles from the Disney library the one's that would look fantastic on 4K with new scans and HDR would be Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Alice in Wonderland, Bambi, Fantasia, Peter Pan, Dumbo and Pinocchio. Truly I think the color palettes and animation in those films would be so striking and in the case of many would be nice to see a newer scan of the original materials.

Awkwardly for me, I finally obtained one of Best Buy's exclusive Signature Collection slipcovers a few days ago.

I believe this is the start of a wave of Disney restoring in 4K all of their classics.
