I have yet to hear the CF series. I hear that they are a bit brighter then the C-series that I have. I think a couple of the guys here heard them heres what they had to say.
Quote:
However, just a heads up, you may want to audition the CF series first before making such an exchange. The local Energy dealer here where I first bought my C-series several years ago only had the CF series at time when I was thinking about upgrading from my C-200s to towers (C-300s or C-500s). Energy had already discontinued the C-series soon after Klipsch took over API. Anyway, I didn't care for the sound of the CF-30s and CF-70s. They were overly bright and too forward in my face sounding to me compared to the RC series they had in the shop or my own C-series at home.

The CF series, IMO, is not the signature sound that I have come to love and enjoy from Energy. The CF series is probably ok for movies though.
Quote:
I heard the CB-20 and CF-30/CF-50 and wow I would say a tiny bit brigter than te old ones but extremely well balanced and IMHO sound way more lifelike than Polk or Klipsch
Quote:
Oh well that guy just confirmed what I was saying about the brightness.

I'd say give them a great listening at high volume and you'll see the balance of lower frequencies mids and highs as opposed to Polk where they are noticebly leaning more towards higher frequencies.

They still have the Energy signature sound persay. Not only Connaisseur inherit some of the RC but also some of the Veritas design as pointed out by rep, Very noticable in the look i would say.

Please do not get offended. I am just trying to be helpful. I really do not like your front speakers inside the cabinets. You are making the cabinets part of your front speakers and listening to them instead of the speakers. Take them out and give them some breathing room. I will guarantee that you will get improved sound stage and much better mid and high level frequencies.
Absolutely no offense taken! I honestly appreciate your feedback.

I agree with you. I've been looking for an excuse to pull the foam port plugs out of them for a long time!! I just wish there was a way to accommodate the suggestion. As you can see, my placement options are limited. I suppose a couple of speaker stands in the corners outside of the cabinets might do the trick. But that area is so small, I'm afraid that they will end up being too close to the walls and perform poorly (too much reverberation in an enclosed area). I guess the only way to find out is to try it.

Thanks Big Daddy. I'm always open to ways of improving the quality of my listening environment.

Best to drop by. I got my system for $430.
I see them on eBay occasionally as well. Not sure about eBay.ca though. Good luck in your search! (and welcome to the forums!)

I am running a 7.1 channel speaker configuration w/front DPL-IIz heights using these ENERGY speakers (all except the heights and sub are in rosenut finish):

Fronts: RC-70s
Center: RC-LCR
Subwoofer: ESW-V10
Front Heights: C-R100s
Rear Surround: RC-10s

Sounds great! The IIz heights do not function taht much; but when they do they have really filled out the audio field giving you the impression of thunder from above or that of crashing helicopters in an action sequence. I bought my speakers over the course of about a two month period during the late summer trying to spot the better prices that I could. I had the sub for 2-1/2 months before it ever played a note. But it was worth the wait and I didn't have to pay an arm and leg... just an arm.

Thanks, Callas.

Can't believe that these speakers have been out for a while and very few have anything to say about them (excluding direct references to CF-30/70s).

I think what it is, is that with the crazy price drop of the C-Series by retailers that it slowed the sales of the CF Series. If you could get an entire 5.1 setup for the cost of the Front towers and center channel, most in this down economy will. I was shopping the CF-50s & CC-10, but before I could go listen to them the wife asked me to find a better online deal, and I came across the C-300 for $250, the C-C100 for $113, the C-100s for $99 and the C-50 was $47. I added a sub for $160. Basically $670 for my whole setup, the front three I originally was shopping was $980 +tax.

Locally my dealers are not even stocking the CF series yet or I would have gone to hear them already. Here is a review of the CF-70s if you want to read it and see what the pros are saying. CF-70s CB-20s

Welcome to the site, You have a very nice setup. I was always curious if the IIz would be worth while, I guess as it becomes more mainstream.

Yep, saw that article earlier this week. As well as that there isquite a good critique on avsforums.

I've only found one place that stocks these jems in Canada and I'll be paying a visit in the next week or so.

Thanks

Ahh, the joys of living in Canada. There are no "deals" here when we are speaking about electronics; case in point: c-500s here. Boxing Day Deals, not withstanding.

...and that's a web-only sale.

Yep, there always is something better. But having heard quite a lot of speakers recently, the C-Series actually hold their own quite well. I can truly say that I am a proud owner of Energy... even their lowest model speaker.

I do however like the Dali Concepts a LOT, I would consider them or the RC-series if I was gonna upgrade, however for me to upgrade I would have to do A LOT more listening then I did in September. If I am gonna upgrade, it is gonna have to be for the perfect set of speakers.

Forget this FS got rid of the C-series long time ago and liquidated the C-500 at 149,97$ each. Paid 99$ each for floor models.

This cherry model you see is sold out and FS is still sleeping on that one, not sure why cause I got a pair of Cherry C-200 bookshelf at 99$. I was able to find Floor models C-R100 for 45$ each, paid 99$ for C-100 online at FS and also got my C-C100 at 89$ at FS all on liquidation. That was before last Christmas bro.

it will be a while before i replace my c500s for sure, but the new psb image line looks pretty schweet. also the aperion 6ts look rather nice, i really like their 30 day in home trial deal. there's no better way to see if those speakers are for you than w/ your own system.

but for the time being, i'm good. the energy's are definitely the best speakers i've had the pleasure of owning, so far...
