Most of the screen grabs I'm using are high res images provided by the studios for promotional materials and are sometimes larger than the actual size of the case itself and have to be resized. The quality seems to be just fine. Additionally, like in the Lion King, I use high res textless posters as well for some of the art.

Regardless, the majority of them need some photo manipulation to make them work, but as a focal point they work really well. For instance, on the 300 cover, that screen cap, in order to fit, was only slightly wider than just the front of the actual case, so I had to build the backside using a mixture of clone stamping, healing, etc and then it also wasn't tall enough, so I cut out everything above the field of grain which was basically silhoutted mountain ranges and used some effects to further enhance the field and put a different sky in it that worked. The 300 cover was kind of a pain in the butt because of the cinematic style the film uses. Making the color ranges match was a real pain in my arse.

I realize the chances of "High Road to China" ever being released on Blu-ray are pretty much nil, since in the almost 15 years of the DVD format the movie has never been released on DVD stateside - despite the pleas of its many fans.

But, I love the movie and so thought I would work on a fanciful version of a cover I would have liked to have seen it released in. This is a WIP obviously:

Dude you really love this hobby. Good start!

I've been mulling over doing a director's series of covers starting with Steven Spielberg. Though I doubt I'd use them for myself (preffer all my films organized alphabetically) I think it would be a fun project. Add in the Scotts (Ridley and Tony) and Kubrick, possibly Scorcese as well after. Too many projects on the go now though!!!

I'm sorry, I'm sure this has been mentioned.

I would like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles covers - perferably both sets (not the pizza ones) they were all sewer ones, and one set had individually coloured...something. Can't remember. madrista told me to come here as he no longer has them, and only recently got the set in the mail.

Please tell me, and don't send me to rapidshare, I'm on education internet and it's blocked

LOL. I'm sure this will be reworked when a more suitable movie is released on blu. I had thought about Frantic and Presumed Innocent which appeared on the same disc as a part of one of Warner's double features, but the idea of producing a seven movie set (for a 6-disc Viva Elite case) is a little daunting.

I have the 2 Jack Ryan thrillers as part of 4-disc Jack Ryan set.

"Morning Glory" would fit more into a set which also includes "Working Girl" and "Sabrina" whenever those are released.

Hello everyone.

I'm doing this commission for Jaws3Dfan, and he has granted me permission to seek feedback and comments on this WIP. Be gentle.

Anyone have a slim 5 disc universal template I can use? I'm working on a cover for Caprica: the complete series.

@DV8pdx. It's grade A work as always. You did not solicit comments, but here's my two cents. Remember, there's no accounting for taste.

Jurassic Park:
I see you went with a leather texture. My favourite.
The OSHA stripes are a nice touch, and is a design element from the film. I always like stuff like that. (Warning! Don't open this case! DNR-ed Dinos inside!)

You tried something new with combining the Rex and Spino skeletons. It's a good idea, but they are just too similar to read like two different dinosaurs. Designers like us get it, we know the original emblems, but to the layman I think the combined graphic is unreadable. Maybe if you included more of the torsos of each, but then the whole graphic has to be bigger.

It may just be the preview, but the cover looks a little drab. Maybe increase the intensity of the red (or maybe just the blacks), or pick a stronger background tone that gives it just that little extra punch. I see you even desaturated the no-copy logo on the back, ha ha.

I like the way you solved the info for the three films on the back. I am struggling with getting my own trilogy cover off the ground. The front and everything is finished, but the back is killing me.
The watermark on the back is also a nice touch.

Captain America:
Don't change a thing. The oil-painting look is gorgeous. If I were to nitpick, the images on the back could just as well be in slightly muted colours instead of all sepia. I don't think it would ruin the impression you are going for.

What's with all the white sparklies? Is it snow? Embers? I haven't seen the film yet, so it may make perfect sense once I do.

Now, your turn. How about you lay into me about my nightmare cover from a few posts back.
