This is right up there with Force 10 From Navarone as one of my favorite custom covers.

I am bewildered by why the template I chose has the warner logo at the bottom of the spine, I'll correct that.

Nice! Any chance you could do a 'collection' one?

Here's my draft for a Harry Potter "Book" style design. Still working on a design element for the back. But they line up together on the shelf nicely. Trying to keep them very clean. Designed for the Ultimate Editions.

Because that's the official layout for Warner covers. Just like Universal, including the sideways Blu-Ray logo.

I tend to stick with the templates to maintain consistency with the official covers. It would look weird if my Warner customs were placed next to an official cover on the shelf, and the Warner logo on the spines didn't line up.

But that's the beauty of making customs, we get to ignore stuff like that and UPCs if we want to.

Your High Road cover is looking good. I like hearing that you've scanned some new material yourself. We (cover designers) tend to re-use the same images found online over and over. The same posters, the same screengrabs. It's like inbreeding. The online image genepool needs some fresh DNA from time to time.

Can someone make a 'Carrie' (1976) Blu-ray cover that utilizes the original poster art that has her in split screen when she just won prom queen and after the bucket of blood is on her? Please? And also have the spine in the same font as the poster...that wavy looking font.

Thanks in advance.

Do you have a local Walmart that can print 11x14 glossy in an hour? $5 fits 2 covers on them and they look sharp. Never had any hassel over copywrite either. Or maybe try a Kinko's or something?

Thanks Nissen. I am currently working on reconstituting a "North Sea Hijack"/"Ffolkes" poster that was too large for my scanner. It is in 4 parts with each quarter being about 6,000 x 5,000 pixels so the eventual file will be enormous The poster is only available online in very, very low res so I decided to scan the poster from my personal collection.

I'm trying to decide what to put at the top of my HRtC back cover:

As far as I know, the Viva Elite 4, 5 & 6 Blu-ray disc case measures 3154 x 1748 (177 pixel spine).

I sometimes find that a title treatment works well on the back. It looks a bit overkill when you see the cover flat and the same TT is front, spine AND back, but once you put it in a case that isn't an issue.

..or you could just do a tagline, critic's quote. It does make covers look more official, sorry to say.

What I don't recommend is putting another screengrab on there. It looks neat the way you have it with one column for pictures, another for text.

Scanning posters and stitching them together seamlessly is quite a chore. I've done it a few times, but I always try to get a good still with my digital camera first. A digital still is more than good enough most of the time.

Photoshop CS5 has a macro that does it for you, which I've used to great effect.

We are upgrading our PS at my office to Adobe CS5. Can you provide more details on this?

Thanks.

Thanks Imrahil.

Yes the command is there on CS4 but I've never used it.

EDIT:

It did a great job...wow, after getting frustrated spending a couple of hours last night this worked the images in a matter of seconds. My final file is 3198 x 4858 pixels which should be good enough for a BD cover. certainly better than the resolution in the 100's that the poster is available online.

The quandry that I have is...do I use the original 1979 title that I grew up with as a young kid in the UK ("North Sea Hijack") or the 1980 American title "Ffolkes" which is the one on the poster?

Default Dawn Treader?

Sorry if I am repeating information already on this thread, but I am having difficulty searching for a custom cover (with any results) for Narnia Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Like most, I would love to ditch the terrible packaging they came up with for this movie in favor of a custom cover in a standard Blu-Ray container. Thanks in advance for any help!

Hey Rusty, it looks fantastic.
I love it as always with your work.

I have a comment 'though

There is a change between first cover and third cover. Which is great because we directly see the differences between the 2 movies and their stories.
What about changing the back on the second cover then... because it's almost the same as the first one.
What about swapping the trees by some buildings!

I think it would improved the set, but it's just my little advice, the rest is great and I would understand that you wouldn't change anything as it works as is

So I have a request, I don't trust my skills, so I would like to outsource it. I'm looking for a cover for both parts (movie only) of Deathly Hallows using the Hallows symbol as the main art.
