Here are four reviews of the "Ride With The Devil" blu-ray. Read those, if you haven't already.

Seven Samurai is due at any time, Criterion stated they had hoped to release it last month for his 100th b-day, but it was not meant to be.

Criterion stated they hoped to release The Thin Red Line by the end of 2010. The teaser last month would tend to indicate it's perhaps six months away, though some discs get delayed between teaser and actual release.

Very good movie bur I was more interested in the second story then the first and I was also very happy it was a bit longer then the first part. I happen to be a big fan of Tony Leung and so that help's a lot. I felt the second story much more interesting then the first one. Like a lot of other movies by Wong Kar-wai I had a bit of a hard time figuring out what was happening in the now and what was flashbacks or memories He can confuse me at time. His stories are however always interesting. The way he make's his movies it feel's to me at least that they are like some sort of dreams. It's almost as if the characters are just dreaming what is happening not actualy living it.

It's funny I did not plan this but I saw two Wong Kar-wai movies this weekend since I also saw Ashes Of Time.
that happened to me about 2 weeks ago. I watched Ashes of Time and 2046. I really like ashes of time but its to bad the blu of it has PAL special features or I would own it. I still need to see Happy Together and My Blueberry Nights, then I will be all caught up.

Happy Together is also Kino licensed, so maybe soon they will put that out on blu.

Kino already has plans to release "Happy Together" on blu-ray on June 8th.

Here's the news announcement.

You guys gotta learn to read more, I think.

Thin Red Line will be released in November (to coincide with release of Tree of Life).

Seven Samurai will be a September release (just my guess).

It's a shame Kino is doing Happy Together. I hate Chungking Express and I love Happy Together so i wouldn't have a problem if they switched distributors.

Good afternoon,

Actually, it is terrific news that KINO are releasing it. Thus far they have been one of the most impressive North American distributors.

Yeah, Stagecoach was hinted for Christmas 2009 release but will be released in May, Cronos was hinted for Fall 2009 release and still hasn't been announced. Che also took few more months than they expected. I don't mind waiting if it means better quality and more bonus features.

CCfixx... I'm in RI too. If you have Cox, Yojimbo is free onDemand until the 23rd. I forget if it was in TMC or IFC section. Just thought I'd throw it out there. I'm going to try and watch it tonight.

Thanks for mentioning the "free on demand" aspect. I just checked, and Directv is offering it as well. Downloading as we speak.

To clarify, I think Kino is a good distributor for bringing plenty of foreign films to NA, but presentations, at least in their DVDs, are all over the place. Also, despite the nice Video/Audio on their Blus so far, their extras seem to be sorely lacking, which is something Criterion usually does a good job on.

For anyone who cares, on TMC tonight, 2:00 A.M. ET, Oshima's "Cruel Story of Youth" is on. Not a Criterion release (yet), but for anyone who wants to see more Oshima before the Eclipse series comes out.

Just pre-ordered Vivre sa vie for Tuesday as the second movie in my collection from Criterion after Pierrot Le Fou, which I viewed this weekend and was very impressed by. Might as well stick with Godard since I enjoyed Pierrot so much (then move on to Akira Kurosawa perhaps)...

Criterion Collection definitely has a lot to live up to because people do expect special features and an informative booklet (note: Criterion Collection has also had their share of releases with no special features and barebones DVD releases in the past but at least their was some sort of insert or booklet). Granted, KINO and even MoC may not be the best in terms of special features but I'm just grateful they are bringing some obscure titles out on Blu-ray.
