Frankly, given how many times some of us have bought this movie, I don't think it's too much to ask that the original audio rises to the level of a release that's over twenty-five years old. Taken in concert with how many of those subsequent releases (which many of us dutifully purchased) treated the original audio as an afterthought? I think people are entitled to feel a bit frustrated.

This place is...this place, and I won't deny that people become rather pathological about small things, but I wouldn't say the audio is a "small thing". By most accounts the picture is glorious, and has been treated with the respect it deserves. It'd be nice if the audio weren't treated like some shameful footnote. That's all.

I don't think anyone knows at this point for sure. I picked up Halloween II yesterday for in store pickup, and several other stores around me had it also. BUT, they didn't have Halloween or any of the others available yet because Halloween II is the only one, according to what I saw, still has the original September 28 release date which is why I was able to go get it early.

At this point in time, it appears that it all depends on where you are located. But, as of this moment, Halloween II on BB's website can be picked up in store still, but that's for the twin cities area.

Really? Yikes. I'm contemplating just keeping my Lionsgate UHD but I BADLY wanted to add this one so I have all of them on the shelf with matching spines....

I also went in to buy halloween 2 only, but when I seen halloween only I really didn't want it. I asked the employee to look in the back and he came out with 4 copies on Halloween 2, I got the best one and then picked up the last copy of halloween. I didn't know it came out early but I bought it anyways. Now I have 3 copies of Halloween 4k lol!

Anyone else just get an updated delivery date of Oct 27 from Amazon? I got it for both 3 and 4, 2 still just says "Delivery Date Pending."

Shout messed up the geometry of the TV version of Terror in the Aisles slightly. I don't see anybody has mentioned it in that thread, probably because it's slight and most won't notice it, but it's SD upscaled to HD, and formatted to 4:3, but slightly squished in. Using my TV's setting to stretch the image out 2 clicks corrects the squishing. Much like with Explorers, but in that case, it was out of their hands as it was provided to them that way.

I'm hoping there are no issues like this with the TV cut of Halloween. If I remember, the DVD of Halloween II's TV cut was fine.

Just received my whole set from Best Buy. Don’t get too excited. Looks like I got scrapes and scratches on a total of 8 out of 12 discs. FML *♀️

I do seem to remember some people taking issue with the geometry of the TV version of Halloween II on the previous Scream releases.

I had to speak to Amazon customer services earlier about my order and adjusting the delivery address... now the order originally was a single order for all 5 movies which had a delivery date of Oct 12th for 1-4 and delivery pending for H2 (I'm importing them to the UK). After the CS updated my delivery details the order is now broken up into 5 separate ones with the following expected delivery dates

Halloween - October 20th-25th
Halloween 2 - pending
Halloween 3 - October 27th - November 1st
Halloween 4 - October 22nd - 27th
Halloween 5 - October 7th-12th

Suffice to say I'm pretty annoyed by this considering I ordered when they went live back in July. The CS rep assures me they'll all be delivered by Oct 12th but i'm not confident in that statement

Shout do seem to struggle with SD material on Blu-rays. I've read several comments on various releases.

Maybe squished AR is based on an incorrect assumption SD material should be mastered at exactly 1.33:1? It varies. Digital "4:3" can be a tiny bit wider than true 1.33:1, and analogue stuff has line blanking (thin borders down the sides) that can be all over the place and tempts many a label to zoom in a bit (which can introduce issues).

Then there's the times some people don't correct for non-square pixels of SD. Though I doubt that's the case here, as it would make NTSC look fatter, not thinner.

This is all just ideas - I don't own the new releases. I do own the Shout deluxe Halloween set and the UK 4K (which I think is an exact port of the US Lionsgate 4K disc).

For now, the best that can be done is to sync the Criterion mix up with the new 4K picture and enjoy. I still encourage as many people to raise a complaint in a respectable way to SF if the audio issue bugs them, it's better to say something than nothing at all.

Dear Shout,

Re. Halloween UHD.

Your mono track is shit.

Fix it.

What program do you use for that? I have a disk rip of this disk and would like to add the LD audio to it.

Any editing software should suffice. There's a lot of free ones out there. I personally, out of the free ones, like ShotCut the most.

I still haven't gotten any notice that the discs are shipped from Shout.

Normally Shout state that one receives their preorder items by street date. Has Shout Factory changed their way of shipping date?

Here's Shout's pre-shipment e-mail they sent out last week. I figured we'd get tracking numbers this week, but I guess not.

Quote:

Thank you again for your recent Halloween purchase! We are currently prepping orders for Halloween and very soon tracking numbers will be issued for the initial shipments.
We want to keep everyone up to date on the status of their order.
We are staggering shipments as a result of some minor supply chain disruptions and here is how we see the rollout as of today:

4K UHD + Exclusive Poster:
You should start to see shipment confirmations on orders for Halloween 1, 3, 4, and 5 with just the 4K UHD and poster very soon. We are waiting on the 4K UHD for Halloween II and when it that arrives (planned for this week), those orders will also start to ship. These orders will ship via USPS.

4K UHD + Exclusive Poster + Vinyl:
These will start to ship early next week as the vinyl and collectible boxes are ready to ship in the warehouse. These orders will ship via UPS. Please note that if you have elected to ship to a post office box, these will ship via USPS.

Halloween 1-5 + Exclusive Posters + Vinyl:
These items will start to ship early next week via UPS. Please note that if you have elected to ship to a post office box, these will ship via USPS.

Halloween 1-5 + Exclusive Posters + Vinyl + Exclusive Enamel Pin Set:
The enamel pins are scheduled to arrive in our warehouse on September 28 (we are so excited to see them). Once they are received and processed, we will start to pick and ship orders for the top bundle. Tracking will start to appear toward the end of next week. These items will start to ship next week via UPS. Please note that if you have elected to ship to a post office box, these will ship via USPS.

We will continue to update you on your order status until your order(s) ship. Once we have issued you a tracking number, we will remove your email from this notification process. A small number of orders may ship later than we would like, we are working with the manufacturers and transit companies to minimize any delay.

We are so pleased to deliver these classic films to you. We look forward to your feedback.

Stay spooky,
Shout! Factory

I believe when covid started they suspended their 2 weeks early delivery and things seem to have gotten worse recently with delivery through USPS. So I think the combination of the two has disrupted the delivery for these. Their release of Alone in the Dark was a week late getting to retailers.

BB putting these out a week early is just such a cluster****. I mean, if BB has them, surely Shout should, right?

Me neither. I ordered directly from Shout and was willing to pay full retail for my sets for two reasons., I expected to receive my sets early and the posters. It looks like we won't even receive our sets by street date. Those posters better be really nice.

Maybe Shout bit off more than they could chew with the distribution of these, five individual releases plus all the different combinations they're offering with posters and soundtracks and enamel pins etc.

Whole thing has been a mess, they should have started releasing them bi weekly at the beginning of September to give them breathing room. Even Amazon don't even know what they're doing delivery wise and normally they're on top of things when it comes to release date delivery
