I hit a new level in Vanguard last night, but I didn't even touch the upgrade package from the postmaster. If I don't turn it in until Tuesday, will that act the same as if I were to wait until Tuesday to have leveled up Vanguard in the first place? Or did I just screw myself from not getting a commendation thing when the DLC hits?

Today I'll be doing the daily's and bounties for all 3 of my guardians. And also, if anyone needs help with a Raid sometime today, I guess I can help with my 29 Hunter. I've already done the hard Raid with my 30 Warlock.



EDIT: Ooops, I forgot to mention I'll be busy watching the Packers game tonight for a few hours. Go Pack Go!

So, to buy new stuff from the vanguard (or FWC or DO or NM) you need a commendation rather than just a reputation rank, and the commendation comes from gaining a reputation rank? How many will you need to buy armor? I should be able to get at least one of my guardians close to a new rank. One light +36 exotic and three DLC legendaries for level 31? I only have one legendary armor engram in the vault. It will probably turn into shards like usual.

It's marks and a commendation. Hitting a new Vanguard or Crucible level gives you a commendation. One of those, plus the prerequisite marks, and you can buy what you want.

yup, getiting to 31 should be the first goal. it's going to take awhile since you need all the commendations and marks.

i think you need to be above rank 3 to get the commendation as well, and it presumably works on faction rep but that hasn't been confirmed yet.

my crucible rank is still rank 1, and my faction rank is at rank 3, guess it would be better to wear the faction if they get them too.

Noon won't work for me, unfortunately. Someone else can snag that spot if that's the timing. I would be about 5 pm MST at the earliest... I don't remember when the raid is scheduled for

Don't you need to be at least level three also to get commendations or at least use them? I ditched the factions this weekend since thought I read you had to be at least level three on crucible to get them.

Not even close to level one and not being able to buy marks/rep anymore stunts my slow progress of rank. Atleast I could use the crucible marks at the time to buy guns/armor for shards/energies. I really hate that they got rid of this. Farming materials was never a problem for me.

Pretty much. Now that legendary armor will get you higher than VOG armor. Someone who never played VOG can get a higher level than those of us who did.

Yup, that and the Iron Banner, especially since I ground Banner with the titan who has received no hard mode exclusive raid armor or weapons. I would have liked the helmet, because I have exotic armors I can't use, but mostly wanted exotics. The only reason to play Iron Banner was to get light +30 armor, and the only reason to be level 30 was to make hard mode VoG easier, and I got nothing for it.

I can see both sides of this. I have a level 30 Hunter(primary) that has all of the raid gear but I also have a level 26 Warlock(mule) that has never ran a raid. The Warlock is about 1200 Vanguard points from level 3 rep. So it will be nice to pickup some gear for that guy so I can start running mutiple higher level characters.

I think the way they are doing it allows the "not every day" players who have never completed the raid a chance to acquire gear to still be useful in the DLC.

The VOG will be good for quick @ 45 minute normal runs to get gear for dismantling, shards and energy.

Nope you have the advantage of going in as level 30 with Oracle disruptor weapons which will let you go through Dark Below shields. Plus it has greatly improved most ppls gaming ability. I remember the first time we raided compared to now. Im pretty sure many of the things we have learned in VOG will come in handy once we enter TDB.

I don't think it's specifically come from Bungie yet, but they did state that there would be another way to reach level 30/31 in the DLC. The actual numbers for the gear has come through datamining.

Exactly. Running through VoG wasn't totally pointless. While the armor might be obsolete now, the weapons and experience aren't.
