Weller is a perfect DKR Batman. After Conroy, he's tied with Bruce Greenwood, who was great in Under the Red Hood.

I just bought and watched this tonight, and it was a very odd experience. I've never read Frank Miller's comic, so the story was much more extreme than I was prepared for. Heath Ledger's version of the Joker was nowhere near as crazy as this film's portrayal, which truly freaked me out...though it took forever for him to show up.

I haven't watched the extras yet, but I'll get back to you all on those later.

Millers Joker has influence on Ledgers take. But not the main influence.

The combined version is really the only way to watch this adaption.

I remember watching Part 1, then Part 2 months later and not really liking it that much but watching them as one full length feature makes it a much stronger adaption overall.

I just can't get past all the missing internal monologues, from several characters. Those moments are the soul of the piece.

This is something that's commonly missing in comic adaptations, so I don't miss it. This film in its complete form is truly a commendable project from WP.

I grew up with that comic, so yeah, I miss all that material quite a bit. I'm also not crazy about watering some things down -- like Gordon's penchant for cigars, and some of the political satire and commentary. As you say, that may be common in these direct-to-video comic adaptations.

While obviously some things were changed, even diluted a bit, I was surprised at how much they didn't water down DKR. It definitely earned its PG-13 rating. Particularly in the second half. I think it's about as faithful as they could reasonably make it in two and a half PG-13 animated hours.

It works fine. No issues at all. No intermission or Part 2 announcement.

Awww I was hoping that this would be a bump due to Amazon price matching the Best Buy price. I notified them about both this and Assault on Arkham but only Arkham was price matched (probably because DK was out of stock for shipping from Best Buy's site)

I think it's a little clumsy, honestly. They cut the first 45 seconds or so of Part 2, with the news clips, and have a generic "Three Months Later" card in between Part 1 and the remainder of Part 2. Which would have been completely unnecessary had they retained the bit with the reporter saying, "Today marks three months since Batman's defeat of the Mutant Leader...."

It's great to have DKR as one epic film, but the transition isn't as seamless as it could have been.

Wouldn't some of the political stuff come off as very dated these days, given that it was all about Reagan and the Cold War?

Thanks! I love the two individual films, but I always wondered what the transition would be like.

I was going through the September Previews catalogue (online) today and saw that many of DC's titles would get Looney Tunes variant covers. I almost died laughing when I saw the Superman/Batman variant cover!!
