The most impressive improvement for me is the reduction in clutter

PSVR2 unboxing by Sony. She states there are two layers of the box.

My main reservation of course is the lack of really innovative, new ideas for VR. It's still early, so there is hopefully plenty of years for them to offer a lot of great, fun VR games for PSVR2 that really show its true potential.

I'd like to see new innovative games beyond what we've seen so far.
Horizon VR seems like an original game.

I have to also remember, that while innovation and creativity are both great things for VR, like in Astrobot Missions VR which is still an incredible game on PSVR1, that fun gameplay is just as important, and maybe there are some fun games in this opening line up.

For new VR ideas for games on PSVR2 that will get me more interested, I hope to see:

More simulation games ported to PSVR2, like Fernbus Simulator (new release February 28, 2023 on PS5 but as a regular 2D game), Construction Simulator, etc. The issue with these games, is they're already pushing the PS5 to its limits with the developers behind them, in that the visuals are sacrificed a bit for resolution in order to hit 60 fps, and the 4K modes are only able to hit 30 fps maximum. I haven't seen these types of games on PSVR1 but would've supported them if they were.

Make Ride 4 a PSVR2 game in VR, a motorcycle racing simulator. The game is very challenging, but could be cool in VR with a VR camera added. It's not an innovative idea, but I have to wonder why PSVR1 hasn't offered it at all, possibly because of the limited technology. Ride 3 VR could've been great on PSVR1.

Static was an innovative PSVR1 game, though I expect there will be plenty more puzzle based games on PSVR2 as well.

I'd like games where you walk through a photorealistic representation of real cities, kind of like how Driver 1 on PS1 would use photos of buildings for the polygon buildings, but we'd have 4K resolutions now, and you could explore the whole city and area on foot or in a vehicle, accomplishing basic missions along the way.

And why isn't there a Rockstar GTAV in VR? That could've been a huge PSVR2 seller. I would buy a PSVR2 headset faster if that game became available. Sony doesn't seem to have much influence over these bigger AAA studios to convince them to offer titles for VR from existing games, nevermind new innovative games built from the ground up for PSVR2, which is most important.

And I hope we see a ton of PC VR games ported to PSVR2. ASAP.

A lot can happen in one year (including a much needed PSVR2 headset price drop asap), so here's hoping for a much expanded PSVR2 library. I'll jump in and support it fully once that happens.
It’s going to be interesting to see how things play out. Several cool looking puzzle games and my finger will be twitching over the ‘buy’ button!

Would love Statik 2, also Rrom VR 2.

The PSVR2 headset looks really nice in that Sony video above.

Yes, games make a system, I agree. The more to choose, the better.
Here's hoping for a lot of news soon for PSVR2 games. It seems quiet at the moment.

Lots of PC VR games please too. That would increase the library fast.

Wow, that is definitely an improvement. The only problem for me is that I use the original PSVR on my PS4 to watch 3D movies. If the new headset doesn't have this functionality, I'm looking at having both set up at the same time.

Hmm. Doesn't look like you can wear the 3D Audio headset over it.

I have an aversion to earbuds. Too many ear infections over the decades.

You can do that as they were doing it at the CEX demo booths. How comfortable that is is another question though.

First Digital Foundry video on PSVR2 is up, a developer interview on Song in the Smoke remake/upgrade and it's really good. Am more hyped for the set than ever.

On the old PSVR1, I was able to put a good sized set of earphones over my PSVR headset. It's a bit much at first but then isn't too bad after getting used to it for a few minutes or so. Hopefully the PSVR2 is a little lighter and smaller than the PSVR1 if that's possible.

EDIT: Sorry, set of Headphones, not earphones/earbuds which I don't like wearing. A good sized set of headphones will work with PSVR1, but not sure about PSVR2 yet.

I wish they went with the off-ear headphones like Valve Index and other PC VR.

February 22, 2023 is a couple weeks away or less for those with PSVR2 pre-orders.

What game are you going to play first on PSVR2? If I were getting PSVR2 on launch, I'd play Horizon 2 first. I don't know if I'd be disappointed in the game, depending on the level of freedom or not that it offers. From what I saw, it looks linear, which can be good, but shows some of the limits of the game's vision IMO compared to the full game Horizon 2. Hopefully for 59.99, Horizon Call Wild VR is a full game with 10 hours of gameplay at that price.

For PSVR1, my first game was the Astrobot Demo. It was great, and the camera was stable throughout those demos. Best to start slow with VR in terms of motion, before jumping into games that require fast reactions and fast movements or jumps is my recommendation to avoid potential dizziness/nausea.

Hopefully Sony includes a free Demo set for PSVR2 owners.

I’m most excited to try Horizon. Kayak VR Mirage, both Moss games, and Beat Saber are all high on the list to finally play.

And it’s nice to see that Rez Infinite seems to now have the VR2 version added. Hopefully many more are following.

My first was Gangster Heist, blew me away! My mind was like, “What the f***!, I’m sitting in a pub next to a bar”. Then, a life sized gangster walks in and sits opposite me!

Awesome experience. That was game wise. My first ever experience was ‘Almumette’, it was a short animated piece. It takes your mind a little while to accept all the things surrounding you.

Cool, yeah, that looks like an excellent start for PSVR2.

Thanks Steedeel. Gangster Heist, Blood & Truth demo was very detailed in the 3D Worlds multi game disc for PSVR1. That Tavern looked realistically detailed, and the character sitting down in 3D too at the round table. It was interesting moving the hand to lift the items on the table too, before starting the action.

Almumette was pretty cool too, as the character story unfolded on that town floating in the sky with the unique art style to the main character, going through the short story.

My first VR experience was the shark diving demo'ish thing on psvr1, and that alone made me buy it! I also played Windlands to death. Crazy fun!! It's awesome! My best VR AND GAMING experience ever though, is still Resident Evil 7! It's so friggin scary!! And it is a game with real realistic graphics too. I really really hope Capcom ports it over to VR2.

I caved in and preordered PSVR2 today. I saw the reviews on Gran Tourismo 7 and I just couldn't resist anymore! I own Resident Evil Village and I plan on buying Kayak too. Looks incredible! I can't wait to put the headset on!

And the best thing about the headset is that it's only one cable. It makes the experience soooo much easier to plug in and play.

Yeah, RE7 was one of my top 5 experiences too. Even going through that dark door around the back of the mansion was so

Me too although I thought I paid already in November when I pre-ordered. I guess they won't charge it twice, it's just an automated email to let us know it's coming soon.

I was watching a YouTube video this morning about whether or not a person should buy the PSVR2 at launch and the dude mentioned that Resident Evil Village is currently on sale for $19.99. I wasn't planning on purchasing that game as I generally don't like the horror genre (especially in VR), but with all of the press videos of Horizon and RE VII, I thought to myself, "Maybe it won't be that scary and it's only twenty bucks." So, I bought it on the PS Store. That Playstation mobile app is dangerous.

Alternatively, I was going to immediately re-purchase Moss for PSVR2 and Moss Book II, but I don't know if I want to spend $50 for both of those. I may just pay the $30 for Book II and rebuy the first game for PSVR2 when it reaches $9.99 or something. I was hoping to re-play Moss before playing Book II for the first time.

I preordered the psvr2 bundle with Horizon. I haven't been this excited for a video game release in years! I have Resident Evil Village and Gran Turismo ready to go!

I was going to hold off until the PSVR2 came, but I started Gran Turismo last week and have about 60 cars so far. I am hoping to have an F1 car by the time I can play it in VR.

I plan on picking up Kayak and Pistol Whip as well on the first day I get the PSVR2.

It looks like you can get moss/moss 2 bundle for $39.99 or cheaper if you have plus right now. I am debating it. I loved the first Moss game and was holding off on Moss 2 for PSVR2.

Are you sure that's PS VR2 compatible? When I go to the PS VR2 section of the PS Store, I only see them separate.

EDIT: See my next post.
