we've had a number of challenges, but far more greater positive experiences with both the product, as well as the customer service in regards to the subs. id highly suggest this as a secondary subwoofer, knowing how good this subwoofer can go with regards to its lower frequencies. to note tho, i kept my original subwoofer to handle the higher frequencies.

congratulations. consider this: at the pricepoint, and the performance you are getting, this is a pretty good deal compared to what you can get for that amount of money.

i stand firm with this sub, and with minimal cost (to no offense) placed into this subwoofer, you can have two of them, without breaking the bank.

just also consider how much a decent amplifier/subwoofer baffle/enclosure would cost (with at LEAST $100 each) per component to build your own subwoofer.

Again, congratulations on the new sub. what color did you pick?

I know U R right. I've been wanting a 2nd sub for a while now but I did plan to buy it 2day or 2morrow but the price was just too good (plus all the good things said about it).

I picked up the Black one for $170 to match my other speakers.

I posted in the Hot Deals thread too. 26ft Monster Subwoofer Cable for $9.99+ S/H. It includes the Y-adapter cable so that you can connect to both inputs on your subwoofer and gain a few more decibles. Normally I do not buy Monster products because of their ridiculous prices, but this price is awesome even compared to Monoprice! Here's the link:

After much lurking on this forum and especially this thread, I jumped onto the HT bandwagon. I'm a completely new into this whole arena. I purchased the HD SUB-12 along with Klipsch Quintet SL and Pioneer Elite VSX-01TXH. I'm still working on setting up my surrounds once i figure out how to run the cables properly in my condo.

I do want to thank BigDaddy and other members here who provided their opinions and insights in this thread. it definitely persuaded to take the leap with the SUB12. Hope to get some advice and feedback from all of you.

Welcome to the foray JT!

congratulations on the purchase. if its any consolation, do give us a quick peek on it with some pictures if you dont mind.

if you have any questions, we are more than willing to answer any of your questions...

ive also seen a number of other members hop on the bandwagon. first off, big thank you to big daddy for starting this trend.

he is the reason why our wallets are on no-carb diet. skinnier than hell.

i can definitely take the blame for the acoustic bomb here tho. thats solely my fault.

for those interested, you can also use this amp for running two subs if ever your interested. 50 clams plus shipping aint a bad deal. or you can stick with the y adapter instead.

audiosource amp

You can blame my beautiful and sexy female doctor. Ever since she told me that my blood sugar is border-line high, I have been on a low-carb diet. I will do anything to please her.

At the end of Post #2 in the Repairing & Upgrading Subwoofers, there are links to AudioSource and other amplifiers to drive subwoofers.

I will be pulling the trigger soon (today maybe) on a Acoustic Audio HDSUB12. Do you think this sub can hold it's own when I upgrade later- to speakers like B&W or Energy? (With a new receiver as well)

Is it enough on its own in that case, or maybe as a secondary?

it definitely can hold its own with the 'higher' end speakers you've mentioned, and with its 800 watts screaming at you on the box, i think the amp can handle what you throw to it. personally, i dont think you'd need to upgrade for a while (based on your sig)...

in regards to the subwoofer, it can hold its own as a primary, but i also like to keep my original sub to handle the higher frequencies. maybe its just me, but as clean as the output is on my sub, i also like a little bit more of the tighter bass that my previous sub had. so i will be keeping my secondary, and have that handle the higher end. sure, cranking up the gain would help out, and match what my old sub 'sounded' like, then whats the point in upgrading to it and end up with the same results right? besides, i like it be cleaner than 'louder'.

besides, two subs would give you a more flatter response, IF placed properly as well as calibrated to work with each other.

Thanks Jomari, I'm feeling pretty comfortable in buying the AAsub12. I'm going to add the projector and acoustics in June (along with the new sub now) and give it the rest of the year to tweak and blast blu's to see if the upgrade bug strikes again.

By the way, have you ever posted pics of your HT...?

good to know. personally, id go with the acoustics firsthand, and then work on the pj afterwards. im sure acoustic treatments would be a more satisfying challenge to accomplish, and may avoid you from upgrading your speakers. i have a pj, and well, its not getting much use right now.
