A spacesaver pairing the 1971 classic with the vastly inferior 2011 remake:

Sized to fit a Viva Elite 4-disc case:

Front needs some work, font doesn't look great. and the squares are just too plane.

Thanks, I wanted to put a photo of Carpenter on the front from the 1980s but there don't appear to be any photos of that era in high enough definition of the director. In the end I was left with only the posters of the four movies.

I could have used Kurt Russell images, but this isn't a Kurt Russell set (he does not star in "Starman").

I tried placing the TT in the center of the front to see if that helped, what do people think?

I'd also appreciate suggestions for an alternate font if anyone has any ideas. The current font is a Helvetica based font.

Blade Runner font?:

On the spine, I'd use the same logos you used on the back.

And ditch the name of the collection?

This is sized to fit a Viva Elite spine so it would be next to impossible to fit the name of the collection and the logos and make them legible.

Thank you for all the compliments on the John Carpenter custom cover. Given the reception I will be using that as a template for all future 4-disc covers.

I received several Arnie blu-rays over Christmas (including the U.K. region free "Red Sonja" and "Raw Deal" from Amazon UK) - enough for two collections.

Add a "lens flare" like the original Total Recall posters had.

Looking for an Austin Powers Trilogy cover as well. Anyone got one they want to share? (and yes, I did search the thread first. If there's one in here, I couldn't find it)

To be on track, I think the title in the center looks much better than on top.

However I know the point of this is to save space, but I really liked your Straw Dogs double and I think a Snake Plissken double would look great with the 2 Escapes.

I like these a lot. The only thing I'd change is the glow around the TT on the front. It makes it look less elegant, to my eyes.

The Total Recall poster is a compositional mess when you put the TT at the bottom. I'd never advocate a lens flare on anything (Huge Photoshop faux pas), but it may be the simplest solution here.

You could just call it The Schwarzenegger Collection, and leave "Arnold" off the front for consistency.

For the Carpenter cover, I second the vote for the centered TT on the front. But the Bladerunner font is too much. You'd better find a font that isn't so iconically linked to anything. Imagine using the Star Wars font or the Coca Cola font and imagine the mixed messages you would be sending.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and all those who frequent this thread. Cheers, brothers.

Fritz

Originally that was my plan, but there are numerous examples online of an Escape double feature. I also realized that I had a spare Viva Elite 4-disc case laying around and had always wanted to see what back cover design I could come with for a 4-disc collection (I see a Mission Impossible set on the horizon).

The front was a challenge because I didn't want to just lay out the posters. I wanted some John Carpenter imagery, but there is nothing of a high enough resolution out there from the appropriate era that I could find that would work for the front cover. I originally had planned for the fourth movie to be "Big Trouble in Little China" and have a Kurt Russell cover, but "Big Trouble" doesn't thematically fit with the Sci-Fi elements of the other three.

The title was even a challenge. I doubt many people would consider "Escape From L.A." a classic. I personally am not a fan and would not even have picked it up if I hadn't found it at a bargain price. I saw "Escape From New York" in the cinema back in 1981 and have always been a fan of that movie.

Thanks for the "Straw Dogs" compliment. I am a fan of the original 1971 movie and picked up the remake out of curiosity - big mistake. Whereas the Sam Peckinpah/Dustin Hoffman original is searing, thought-provoking and suspenseful, the remake is a total mess and just ugly and violent. The remake should never have been made. In researching the original I found out that the 1971 original was released the same month as "Dirty Harry" and a "Clockwork Orange"...an interesting factoid considering the violence in the movies debate that arose shortly afterwards.

Happy New Year to everyone.

But you decide the theme You could change it to simply Carpenter/Russell. They're one of the many famous and great director/actor relationships. Just a suggestion. I agree with Nissen about the Blade Runner font, but I don't have any suggestions for a new one.
