There are several people on the moviepass subreddit talking about being denied at AMC, so some managers are definitely coming down on it, which is stupid. But it's just something on a case by case basis, won't really know until you try.

I'm just glad after all this that of the like 10 theaters around me, none are AMCs haha

I only have one in my area, the rest is Marcus and afaik, Marcus has welcomed the extra business with open arms.

Wait.....does AMC even have the right to deny the card? Are they being fully restituted by Moviepass anyways?

No, it's against Mastercard terms of service. If they do it too much and it becomes a problem, they could lose the ability to take any mastercard... they can't discriminate based on a name on the card. It would be like them not accepting a mastercard that someone got with the New England Patriots on it. they are getting all of their money, and not being charged more or anything for us using it. They have no reason not to accept it.

Never got an Informed Delivery email and my mail is usually delivered around 9:30 so I guess today ain't the day either. Today marks 3 weeks since signing up, on day 2 of their new pricing

Went to the one Alamo Drafthouse here that doesn't show up on Moviepass's list. It's a super new theater, and my guess is Moviepass doesn't even know it's there. (Why else would I be able to use it at only 1 of the 2 theaters of the same company?)

The manager there was super cool about it, and said they're working to get it resolved. She not only acknowledged my Moviepass by letting me in for free, she also let my girlfriend in as well.

So, unlike AMC who is apparently turning people away even when they are 100% getting paid for the ticket price....Alamo Drafthouse just lost money by letting 2 people in for free, without getting reimbursed by Moviepass.

Really says a lot about the way those 2 companies are run.

That's mind boggling. I usually get home from work at 5:30pm and my mail still hasn't been dropped off before. Anytime between 4:00pm and 6:00pm is when USPS comes by. UPS is even later than that.

Haha yeah at my old apartment, the mail would come any time between like 1 and 6. The window was so huge it was irritating. I just moved to a new apartment complex though and everything seems to get here by like 10 at least

If anything, moviepass loses money the more that I use it's service, and AMC is literally saying they don't want money by refusing moveipass. I really don't get their logic process since I'm wondering if the people running inside really don't understand moveipass. The only thing I can think of is if they think that people using moviepass if the company goes under, that people would stop going to see films in the long term.

I don't see it happening as much as others think, considering a company like netflix for example, is able to fund $50-100 million films just for their service, while having their service cost a similar sub price, while they lose money when people are using the service. It's a different business model for sure, but the point stands in that if a company expends funds while still remaining profitable, the business model currently might make sense even in the long term.

My friend who lives in LA and ordered his card within like an hour of me doing so just got his today (or maybe yesterday, but he only opened it this morning). Anyway, hopefully I get mine today. Wasn't Sept. 6 supposed to be the day that everyone who ordered during that initial wave receives their cards by?

Sept 6-10 was when everyone who ordered on 8/17 or later should've expected cards, with people on 8/15 or 8/16 getting them "sooner" but that clearly has not been the case

Someone from reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/MoviePassCl...ation/dmmvd4k/

Quote:
After cussing out the live chat for 5 days and nobody answering, I checked it randomly and this was sent yesterday...

"We’ve been blown away with all of the excitement surrounding our new $9.95 unlimited plan. Though we anticipated a high level of interest, we received an unprecedented volume of traffic: so much so, it completely crashed our servers. Last week, MoviePass was the #1 consumer news story in the world.

To meet this demand, our production facility has rapidly increased capacity. If you signed up before August 25th, you can expect to receive your card by September 15th. We apologize for the delay. Your account will not activate until you’ve received your MoviePass card."
So they have once again changed the date for when we can expect cards (while people who ordered later have inexplicably already gotten theirs)

I dont see myself having problems swiping this card at the AMC's here since the customers swipe it themselves. They have the card swiper on the outside of the ticket booth when ordering.

Sigh.

Another day. Another day without my coveted right of passage back to the movie theater.

Not to burst your bubble (mine was burst too) but some people on reddit said that they signed up for a card and about 5 minutes later logging into the app it said "Card shipped" so it seems like that can't really be relied on, might even just be a measure to get people to stop contacting customer service asking where their card is lol

The real test comes tomorrow night. See if I can get into 1 of 2 showings for It at the Alamo Drafthouse. Will be tough doing it without pre-buying the tickets.
