3d has been around since the 50's. It is the biggest gag of technology that I have seen in a while. Face it people do not want to sit with glasses on, and 3d gives you a headache after viewing for extended periods of time. It's a novelty and has been pushed strictly for nostalgia reasons. I actually tried a Panasonic 3d plasma and knew instantly that it was not for me. I know you guys are die hard plasma boiz, but my opinion is worth the same as yours. I dead serious when I say that I'm surprised we haven't had smell o vision yet. It's just a monitor, that's it. I just want to borrow my friends predator head and scare my niece with it. That's enough for now.............

Buy ALL the 3d movies now, before they get discontinued and drop in price. Don't wait, buy now

Congratulations for hitting all of the cliches. You replaced the word "gimmick" with "gag," so I guess you get points there.

3D is how we see. 2D cinema is the gimmick. I wear glasses even when I am not watching my 3D TV, so glasses are not a burden to all of us.

I have had a 3D TV since 2010. I have never gotten a headache from watching 3D in the theater or in my home.

That's part of the problem. So many people think every conversion is gonna look like Clash of the Titans that they just assume they're all shit. They're not.

3D is how we see, but movie 3D has not yet convincingly approximated a real 3D environment.

Movie 3D approximates it better than movie 2D. Patience, there is a holodeck in your future.

If you read back through the thread you can see this is the big debate. James Finn, VP of Fox Marketing, Tweeted at me it was a new transfer, the guy who runs Home Theater Forum said that Finn told him it was a new 4K remaster, and an HTF user said a booth employee at SDCC said it was specifically done to correct the mistakes of the UHE, but there is no official press release or anything confirming this yet.

One reason is because some folks don’t take the time to try to understand the science behind 2D -> 3D conversions, even when it is explained as simply as possible nearly two years ago -

A new 4K scan is just the first prerequisite to a better looking outcome. The big challenge for the 3D Predator Blu-ray product is how much and what type of grain reduction was used because heavy grain doesn’t do well with 2D -> 3D conversions, similar to with visual effects.

For example, many VFX houses routinely degrain or denoise the scene(s) before making a composite and then *regrain* it (with FAKE grain) after they perform their magic in order for the texture of the VFX scenes to blend more seamlessly with the non-visual effects footage.

Well, I thought Top Gun 3D looked fantastic in all its grainy glory, and Legend3D specifically said that they didn't reduce the grain, although it would've needed replicating for the second eye which is where some people think the overtly heavy grain was introduced into the chain. (It still looks like a fast mid-80s Super 35 show to me, but I'll bow to the superior knowledge of more informed folks if they say that that's not the case.)

Anyhoo, if Predator 3D is even half as good a conversion as Top Gun, I'll be happy.

Predator - Limited Edition (Exclusive to Amazon.co.uk) [Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray] [1987]

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Predator-Lim...A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

might pre-order this one, it's a lot cheaper than the version on the Germany site.

You can always display it without the mask...the pictures of the revealed face on Amazon UK are much more impressive.
