Well, she’s only 5’ 4” (163 cm) so maybe part of that distance is due to height...

Asuka is 5’ 1” (157 cm), and Rei is 4’ 9” (145 cm) for those curious.

Weird. I always thought of Misato as being rather tall. Like 5'8" or 5'9"

^ Misato is above-average tall for a Japanese woman of her age group (average is 5'2" or 158 cm).

It's because of her proportions, nowadays the only women that long and lean ARE 5'8-5'10", you have to go back to the 30's and dancers like Ginger Rogers to find American woman only that tall and lean.

When I was in Japan the thing that left an impression about the Japanese wasn't that they were short it's that they are all so thin and lean. Even tall Japanese aren't "big boned".

I saw a YouTube video that mentioned that yesterday. It's one of those "once you see it, you can't un-see it" things lol

I always thought Shinji looked girly. Didn't make the connection to Nadia, though.

Nadia is a great show but I will say it definitely should of been a 26 episode series.

Anno didn't direct the island arc. Higuchi Shinji did that bit while Anno and his team were working on the last 5 or 6 episodes.

Yep. Similar to Macross, which was originally planned for 23 episodes, it became a victim of its success and was partially ruined by being dragged out to 36 episodes.

In the very early days it was supposed to be 48.

BW pared it back to 27, but backtracked once the show aired to great success, hence the 36.

I actually thought that last arc after what would have been the ending
[Show spoiler]where it explores the aftermath of the final battle and the Zentraedi integration into human culture
was really good and what helped set SDF apart from other similar shows.

If anything I want more Macross/Robotech to venture outside Japan.

Don't call it by that second name. That's why we haven't gotten it.

Yes though I do like the island episodes. I really want to get the BD and the Natulis movies that came out on LD (I think there an overview of the series-I like collecting some favorites on LD, DVD and BD sometimes VHS and other formats-I have a lot of EVA stuff almost all Japanese releases)
